Nando's coming to Scotland!

Bummer.....

I've eaten at the Reading one and tbh, don't recall if I really liked the chicken, but I was very happy to enjoy the nuts and olives they do with loads of lovely sangria!!

On reading the Evening Times article more fully, it looks like it's not opening till SPRING 2007!!

WHY did they tell us so far ahead of time?!  :\\\'(

B/c they knew I was going through pregnancy and then breastfeeding, so they delayed the opening so I'd be able to enjoy the sangria.   

aye... mebbe that's it! 

Just read today that there is a Nandos and a Chiquitos being built at The Quay, which is down sort of Tradeston/Kinning Park way!!  (a stones throw from my MIL's house!!) 

I dont know if this is in addition to the one at the Odeon, or if they have decided not to do the Odeon one and put it at the Quay instead.

We have Nando's at least once a week, we are addicted,,lol. I could sit and eat their olives all day long, yummmmmmmm! If you dont' like your chicken spicey, you can just have it with a touch of lemon and herb. It's very nice

Fantastic!  Do you know when they should be opening?  Need to plan a trip to the central belt around it!

I'd say it's going to be at least a year... the Odeon one was scheduled for 2007, and i dont know about the Quay one, but they havent started building it yet, so...

Oh well.  It will give me something to look forward to.  Just thinking about it is giving me a huge craving!  I haven't had Nando's in almost 3 years now.  Yum, yum, yum!

i know... it's been 5 years for me, but in my mind i can still taste its succulent gorgeousness!

Oh! I have had a sauce in Africa called "pili pili" that's a hot chili sauce and I just thought it was the same thing! Do they have anything besides chicken? ie somehting for the discerning veggie?

yes, there is quite an extensive menu for veggies... considering the fact they specialize in chicken.

pili pili is swahili for spicy or chilli pepper

Nandos is in many countries in Africa too. Nairobi has several. My first visit in Kenya wasn't anything special... it was fast food chicken. I went last week with colleagues here and noticed a huge difference. It is more like a "restaurant" with fast food.

Jambo! Thanks, well maybe I will check Nandos out now, there is one in here in Canterbury.  Don't remember seeing any in Nairobi, probably new since my last trip (Nov 02).

hakuna matata britwife, I went for the first time in Nov 02 during my first three months in country... a few more have popped up since. ha ha, but don't recall Nairobi having veggie options as two of my friends were veggies when we went. perhaps now. they always hooked them up with the pizza chain and the ice cream chain. just like in America we have Starbucks, McDonald's and KFC

My friend said he phoned them and they are NOW OPEN!!! 
There is also another one open in Glasgow at The Fort shopping centre!

Nandos has arrived in Scotland! 
(we're going on Sunday!)
