National Insurance Number question..

I've read the post above about NIN, but didn't see my question.. I'm writing a little note to DFS explaining my situation. I'm letting them know that I do not have a NIN, and need to make sure of something..

So I get a job, and apply for a number at Job Centre. I get a temp number, and in a certain amount of time get a permanent one...

I just want to make sure this is right. I'm not concerned with the ineterview, because I can easily look that up, but I just need some reassurance from a person..

You already know your temp number. It is just TN, followed by your birthday, then M for male or F for female.

So if you are female and were born 15 June 1970, it is

TN150670F.
