Richard met him once.  Harrison was putting on a play in Saltare and Richard knew the manager of the theatre. He apparently did some mystery works that were quite good.

I'm very partial to Anne Sexton although I left all my poetry books back in the States. You've put me in a mind to do a bit of poetry shopping! :)
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

No, we're in Reading, but Richard was living in Leeds at the time. I'm not exactly sure where Saltare is but I believe it's somewhere North of Leeds? Does he have a webpage you could check out and see where/when he may be reading or producing?

Tony Harrison has written some really interesting stuff. I like some of his early poems about the problems of reconciling his working class background with a grammar school education, and his parents' very different hopes and aspirations for his future. I've seen two of his plays "The Trackers of Oxyrhyncus" at the West Yorkshire Playhouse and 'Poetry or Bust' at Saltaire, both peformed by Northern Broadsides.

This is Saltaire, btw : http://www.saltaire.yorks.com/saltaire-info.html
