eek. it's worse.

at least eggs just pop out of chicken bits & aren't the boiled renderings of assorted animal parts. [smiley=lipsrsealed2.gif]

If you're not opposed to tofu, I have a recipe using tofu instead of eggs, but you have to blend it to death to keep it from getting chunky.  I was a vegan for a long time and have loads of eggless recipes.  There is also an egg-replacer by Ener-G which my fiancĂ© once said was available in the UK.  I'll double-check when he gets home, as I can't quite remember. ;)

I've only ever seen the **reads off can** Libby's Solid Pack Pumpkin.  It's pretty simple to make a pie with that though. I've always used the recipe on the label and as I said before, it's never let me down.

My mother makes pumpkin pie out of squash most of the time.  My parents have a garden and my father grows tons of squash and lets it sit out in the cold on a table for a few weeks after it's been picked.  It makes it REALLLY sweet.  It tastes just like pumpkin.  I'm guessing also it's similar to sweet potato pie that common in the southern US?

does anyone know how to make a pie crust (or have you seen a ready made pie crust anywhere?) I have heard you can do it with digestive biscuits and butter. . .

Just got my Libby's today!

Thanks!

Pillsbury does a ready rolled out pie crust that is GREAT...just let it thaw and unroll and slap in your pie pan...does a a 12 in pie easy!!!

In the frozen section....also does a big chunk of unrolled pie dough as well...make sure you don't get the puff pasty...!

i think it is in the blue box!

woooooooooooooooot!!!

found a recipe & made it last night that uses no eggs:
calls for:

a box of vanilla pudding
1/2 cup of milk
1 cup of pumpkin puree
2 1/2 cups of cool whip
1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice.

whisk it all together &  it makes a sort of pudding and fluffs up nicely. i'm looking forward to serving it tomorrow.  ;D

MeShell- the pillsbury pie crust you get- is it here or in the States?  I'm awful at making pie crust.  always turns out tough as nails (i work it too much).  Since i have three pies to make the ready made pie crust would be a life saver.

I get it here...Tesco

it is just like the Pillsbury one we have in the USA! It is in a thin blue box..and has two pie crust in it...make sure it is thawed completely or it will crack as you unroll it...I find it with the frozen filo pasty

It makes a nice pie!

The Pillsbury pie crust is often hiding near the frozen fruit in Sainsbury's.

I also follow the can but add a bit more spices.  Cinnamon, nutmeg (freshly grated), ginger and cloves.  Might try some cardamom one year.  Also a bit of spiced rum upon occasion.

This Brit baked her FIRST pumpkin pie today (in the U.S) and it came out really good! ;D

Yay! I am stupidly pleased with myself and my hubby was amazed! During the baking, a bunch of wild turkey's wandered past my friend's kitchen window- what a surreal moment I had and now snow is forecast for tomorrow.... :o

Hope you all enjoy your pies & Thanksgiving wherever you are
