moving to newcastle from chicago.... need advice...

Hello everyone;
I discovered this site several months ago and have just been reading people's posts, but now that my move date is approaching (Dec 1), I feel like its my turn to ask questions. Husband got offered a job in Newcastle and we have never been to the UK, so we are just curious abt a few things. I hope someone can answer me on how easy it is for me to find a job there? I work in the accting field. Second, I BADLY need a website where I can find/see rental apartments/houses there, you know, like an apartmentfinders.com kinda website.... any help will greatly be appreciated!!!!

www.rightmove.co.uk -- you can just type in Newcastle upon Tyne or can type in particular postcodes...

The job market here is competitive, but you'll find something!  I found it easier to start out with a no-brainer part-time job (admin) and that got my foot in the door, making it much easier for me to find something more suited to my degree.

Glad you're coming to Newcastle -- there's only a few Americans here and we need more!!!! 

I'm also from Newcastle. So far I haven't found a job...I taught in the US and teaching qualifications do not transfer here easily. Also, there is a teaching shortage down south, but not up here! Last spring I signed with a supply teaching agency and was quite busy. We're moving back to the states this coming summer, so I haven't been too worried about finding a job.

I've been using http://www.gumtree.com/ to search for apartments in London myself.
