Ahhhh...Neil Young -Down by the River

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away,
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me,
When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall,
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball?

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round

Watching The Wheels - John Lennon

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

"Horse With No Name"--America

"You'd rather have wine than gin,
And only the finest by YOUR skin..."

ONE more hint: "Nobody knows your melancholy mind."

Little Queen - Heart

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Carry-on My Wayward Son - Kansas

daylight licked me into shape
i must have been asleep for days
and moving lips to breathe her name
i opened up my eyes
and found myself alone
alone
alone
above a raging sea
that stole the only girl i loved
and drowned her deep inside of me

Just Like Heaven - the Cure?

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got
Set them free at the break of dawn
Till one by one, they were gone

Just Like Heaven - the Cure?

Yep!

Nena - 99 Red Balloons

I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste
A flannel for my face
Pyjamas, a hairbrush
New shoes and a case
I said to my reflection
Lets get out of this place

Tempted - Squeeze

I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
It's wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Ah, I have stumped those who don't know their Britpop from the 80s!  LOL!

A New England - was recorded both by Kirsty MacColl (RIP) & Billy Bragg (who wrote the song).

Let's try another (I know there are those out there who know this one, but not sure if they play this game!)...  This one's easy peasey!

She told me that her Dad was loaded,
I said "In that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola."
She said "Fine."
and in thirty seconds time she said...
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

I don't want to change the world
I'm not looking for a new England
I had just tried to post Kristy...anyway this was an easy one as well

PULP - Common People
I want to live like common people, I want to do whatever common people do, I want to sleep with common people

Well, you can knock me down,
Step in my face,
Slander my name
All over the place.

Elvis

He's the hairy-handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Warren Zeevon - Werewolf of London

Old Curt was a black man with white curly hair.
When he had a fifth of wine he did not have a care.
He used to own an old Dobro, used to play it across his knee.

I understand about indecision,
But I don't care if I get behind...

Peace Of Mind - Boston

I went from Phoenix, Arizona
All the way to Tacoma
Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A.
Northern California where the girls are warm
So I could be with my sweet baby, yeah
