Halloween Party Games for Children, any suggestions?
« on: October 17, 2005, 05:20:59 PM »
We are throwing a Halloween Party for my eight year old son Ashton and twenty of his friends.  I am seeking any ideas for Halloween party games for children.   If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

That bobbing for the apple is the traditional one over here.  You have a tub of water with apples floating in it, preferably the kind with stalks on. The kids have their hands tied behind them and have to try and pick an apple out with their teeth.  First one to do it wins.

yup throwing a halloween party for my daughter's friends and so I got this sorted:

1.Face painting (stick on tattoos)
2.Haunted mystery box: get a collection of boxes(preferly 10 shoe boxes) and stick things in the boxes make sure they can stick their hands through but not see what's there.
get bowls of grapes , noodles and other gunky stuff .
Blindfold the contestant and see how far are they willing to go down the row of boxes
first box being not too scary to box number ten which you can make it a bowl of slime or something. the winner is the one that is courageous to go dip his/her hands in all ten.
3. Pumpkin painting - co op has small pumpkins that are really cheap. get some poster paint and paint away or if you wanna supervise get some carving kits (preferly if it can be done in the garden I would try to do it there)
4. Halloween Twister- the discount shop at my place is selling a halloween version of twister
5. Halloween version of "Win , Lose or Draw"

that's all I can come up with I'm doing a monster version of "Lucky Dip" the kids dip their hands into the "Cauldron" but could there be something "dipping " on the other side..mwwhahaa!! >:D

I'm helping a friend host a Halloween party this year. We decided to play 'fork the apple' instead because a lot of the kids will have make up on and we dont want their faces in water. So the idea of forking the apple is to put a fork in your mouth prongs down and try to stab the apple when you let it drop from your mouth.

I think we are also doing an outdoor skavenger hunt.

Not Halloween oriented but could be with some imagination.......Hold a small object (penny, small ball, ??) between your knees (no hands, feet apart, knees together) and try to drop it into a vase or bottle with a reasonably narrow opening. Harder than it sounds!  ;D

I remember a Halloween party I had as a kid.  Instead of bobbing for apples, my mom tied strings around donuts and hung them from the basement ceiling, and we had to bite into the donut with our hands behind our backs.  We also decorated masks.

Thanks JessicaAnne, The donuts sound like a good idea.

Alicia, that monster is gross and would so impress the kids at the party.  Where did you get it?

Thanks
