York Restaurant Recommendations
« on: October 26, 2005, 07:09:37 PM »
My fiance and I will be in York next month to attend a concert at Grand Opera House. Anyone have a favorite restaurant that they're willing to share? We're pretty open when it comes to cuisine so all suggestions are welcome.

Well I usually go here more as a lunch place or an afternoon tea place...  (and I usually go to the one in Harrogate but I've been to the York location too)

DH and I went to Clifford's -- a little bistro -- on our first anniversary.  It was very cosy and nice!   :)

Ooh, Sweetpeach is the one you want to talk to. She lives there.

The only time I ate there (besides at a pub) was at a carvery called Russells. I remember it being pretty good and every review I read for it was good. They have two in town.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

Hi. We had our wedding reception at Plunketts (it was just a sit-down dinner with about 20 people, it's a regular restaurant, not a wedding place). The food and service were lovely.

Russells Restaurant has nice traditional English food.

If you like Mexican food, you can try Fiesta Mehicana on Clifford Street.

I have never been to Betty's, but it always looks packed.

FYI, parts of York city centre are pedestrian only, so be prepared to do some walking.

Ok, ok  :) I see that there's some definite love here for Betty's. I'll go and take a look at it. Thanks.
