Favorite place to eat?
« on: October 28, 2005, 02:46:17 PM »
After reading the post about places to eat in York, I started thinking about places to eat in general.

I love Hitchcock's. It's a funky little vegetarian place near me. It's a buffet and the deserts are SO tasty. My other favorite place is Betty's in York. I love their scones. I can't wait to get paid, it's the first place I'm going to go.

I've become addicted to cheese & mushroom pasties from the west cornwall pasty co (you see their shops everywhere) so yummy especially on a chilly day

Little Bay in Kilburn is so good and very inexpensive...Continental food.  We go there about every other month.

London has to many great places to eat for me to narrow down to just  one. But for excellent Thai food at great prices it would have to be Churchhill Arms. Its on Kensington Church street. Its a great pub that leases its kitchen to a Thai family.  All the dishes are under 6 pounds

They had a kisosk at Reading Festival this year.  Soooooo good. :D  Especially when the sun went down, we were tired and it was getting chilly.

Pasties = Love  :D

out.  lol.

no really my favorite? Grand Bazaar on James street. amazing meze.  you get 10 dishes to share and bread for 10 quid a person.  they mark up their wine though so we stick to beer

we eat at wags the most consistently.  usually every 2 weeks.  there are so many dang places, and we eat out 2 times a week-so we have tons of faves.  ;)

My other favorite place is Betty's in York...

Mmmmmm, Betty's...  You should do what a friend of mine did once...go for the Betty's tri-fecta:  she ate Betty's cakes in all three (at that time) locations -- York, Harrogate, AND Ilkley -- all in the same day.  Only now it'd have to be a quadrifecta(?) 'cause they have a location in North Allerton too. ;D

Sooo many places in Leeds that DH & I love:  Dino's (Italian), Las Iguanas (Latin American), Thai Edge, Aagras (curry), Nando's, and so many places still to try! :)  I think we're going to check out a Malaysian restaurant on Fri night.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Carluccio's - GREAT Italian food. And I just found one in Reading!!  Thought the closest one was in Esher which is definitely too far to go on anymore than a special occassion basis.
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

HAHA  I love the tri-fecta story.  We have a local baker in Salisbury called Reeve.  Everything they make is amazing.

And Nando's gets my thumbs up too.  We had it in London for hubby's birthday.  Great chicken!!!

Jon and I rarely go out to eat but when we do it's usually somewhere latino. Just recently we went to Iguanas which is brand spanking new and very very nice food. We were impressed.

We also like Caliente Cafe in Headingley. They do good fajitas. And Cactus Lounge is nice too. Really good Chimichangas.
