Fiance visa application and family members
« on: November 03, 2005, 10:42:15 PM »
This very well may sound like a stupid question, but I'm going to ask....

on the fiance visa, it asks for family members, do you only list biological family members, or do you list your step as well? ie, my mother remarried, do I list my step father as my father (as the only options are, mother, father, brother, sister), and just show I have 2 fathers?

If in doubt, list everyone.

I only listed my mother, father and sister. I didn't list my step-parents or even my half-sister. I just assumed it meant immediate family. It didn't seem to be a problem on my application.

Thanks!

That's what I was thinking as well among_the_stars. It only gives you four options, father, mother, brother, sister, so my thought was immediate as well. I wasn't sure if there would be a problem as I put mother is married (which she remarried) and father is divorced (never remarried). I figure if they want to know who she's married to, when married is selected on the form, it would ask for name, birthdate etc as it does with the others. I also figure if there's an issue with her being (re) married, and they would just ask at the appointment?

Yeah, they'll ask if they have any questions. Both of my parents are remarried and they didn't ask about it. I'm sure you'll be fine with it like that. :)

I always figured that they want to know what countries your relatives are in to see if they are likely to be making applications to enter the UK in the future, and to see if you have family here already,  but that is just my guess.
