Harry Bloody Potter
« on: November 04, 2005, 04:42:41 PM »
Someone accused me today of being the only human being who can't stand Harry Bloody Potter. Please tell me this isn't true.

I was too scared to tell them I can't stand Lord of The Rings, Narnia, or Star Wars.

And... being British myself I could probably be arrested for this... but Wimbledon! Please shoot me. Every bloody year.

As for those chinless fools at the Palace..... ;

You're definitely not alone...I'm staying away from all things Harry Potter until I die...I just can't see the draw.  I've seen a couple of the LOTR movies because DH wanted to see them, but I was bored senseless and could see why the weird geeky guys in high school were into the series.  ;)

I suppose I can stomach Star Wars.  I mean, I'd never actually seek out one of the films, but I'd watch it if a friend wanted to, I suppose.  Maybe.  If there was pizza and/or chocolate involved.

I love the HP books!

But I can't stand the LOTR books/films. I have yet to watch a single LOTR film and stay awake all the way through.

LOVE STAR WARS!!

I guess I am the odd one out then cause I absolutely love lotr and harry potter and Star wars.. and my children love harry potter and lotr as well.. the only thing I hate is how the film adlibbed so much on lotr and how so much was left out.. but you have to give and take somewhere..
Cleaning your house whilest your children are growing is like shoveling the walk while it is still snowing...

I like old Star Wars.

Haven't touched HP, and I don't think I will.

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

Well, since everyone else is purging themselves of their dislikes...
  • I hate the movie Dirty Dancing.
  • I, too, dislike the LOTR books (I think it's the writing style).  However, I did enjoy the movies quite a bit.
  • Reality TV annoys the snot out of me.  I soooooo do not get the whole Big Brother thing.
  • I enjoy Coldplay's music, but I don't understand why they're treated like the second coming or something.
  • And I think Jim Jarmusch is an elitist snob whose movies are highly overrated.

Ahhhhh... that feels so much better!  :D

omg I couldn't agree more... reality tv is NOT entertainment and it is not REALITY anyway! ppl on those shows play up their lives cos the cameras are there, not b/c it's how they really are (altho, for some it really is lol)

I love the LOTR films, but aside from 'The Hobbit' the books hold no charms for me. I liked the first three HP books, but hated the first film and haven't seen any of the others. I didn't read the last HP book because Goblet of Fire or Flight of the Phoenix or whatever the hell it was was just so boring I couldn't stomach another.

As for Star Wars, I am married to a world class Star Wars geek, so can't say much. I mean, DH's friend is the Guinness Book of World Records for having the biggest Star WArs collection in the world, or the second biggest or something. In fact, so much of our lives is Star Wars based, I have a very skewed perception of the whole thing. I mean, it's weird because I am NOT a SW fan and find it all rather dull. Hate George Lucas's work, for the most part. Go figure!
