I just asked mom to bring me a big ol' bag of popping corn (the non-microwavable kind)...all I've found here are tiny little bags.  And I love my popcorn!

I'm going to the US in a few weeks and plan to bring back several bottles of my beloved Liquid Smoke.

Mmmm...My mother-in-law is bringing me some Liquid Smoke this week.  But I noticed that they sell it at Lupe Pintos, which is right down the street from me!

She's also bringing me some Lipton's Teriyaki Rice, which is unarguably the foodstuff that I miss the most from the U.S.

I always bring back Kraft Mac&Cheese and Nestles Sugar Free instant Cocoa packets.

I just received 2 huge bags of candy corn from my mom and 2 from my friend!!! Now I am waiting for a bag of black beans. The plain, dried kind. I can't find them anywhere.

Try health food/organic/fair trade shops -- that's where I get mine.

exactly! why waste valuable luggage weight and space with the noodles!?! When I lived in Kenya, I had a friend who also spent two years in Kenya send me a letter from the US with a powder packet after she returned home. The stuff was like gold! It is amazing how far you can stretch out one of those packets if you are desperate for Americana!  ;D

I totally felt this way last year when I was in the UK. Didn't even realize I was going to miss it until the craving started for a big bowl of mac n cheese. And then I discovered that it didn't really exist the same way in Cornwall and that...mac n cheese came in a can. That kinda threw me. ;)

Next time I go, I'm definitely stocking up. Kraft used to make shaker bottles for the cheese powder, much like parmesan cheese. Does anyone know if they still do?

:)

That would be easier than buying all of the boxes and then taking them apart.  I'm curious to know too!b

I find dried beans in my local Sainsbury's, including black.  YUMMY!  Black bean burritos.

I'm already planning what to put in my suitcase in January! Kraft M&C (good idea about the packets...I'll start ripping those little boxes apart right away!), Steen's syrup (made from sugar cane), Tony Chachere's seasoning, Community New Orleans Blend coffee (with chickory), a couple of pounds of Camellia red beans, and some Louisiana hot sauce. Now, if I could just figure out how to bring several loaves of po-boy bread with me...and keep it fresh, I'll be in heaven!

I laugh everytime I open my smaller suitcase to pack more... it's full of American food products and toys. They may think I am nuts if I get stopped. I have Tollhouse morsels, hot coccoa, pumpkin pie mix, a cake mix, Frenchs onions, Stovetop stuffing, candy.... and lots of girlie toys  ;D ;D
