It's technically not a DVD or video (a film on BBC i-player), but The History Boys.  I really didn't like it very much.  :-\\\\

I was gonna tape it and forgot and now I'd love to hear why you didn't like it - I sense a coffee date in our future.  :P

It's been awhile since I've seen The History Boys, but I really liked it!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

You and I (and Mrs. R.) need a coffee date for sure!

I just thought the boys were way too sophisticated even for very bright kids.  I didn't like how so much of it was about sex, to be honest, and I didn't find the main teacher (the big man) as endearing as maybe others did.  And thank goodness for the one female teacher otherwise it was just too guy-centric for me.

We saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which seemed like one of the longest films we have watched in a long time.  Kept thinking - damn, is this ever going to be finished?!

Then I see today that it received 13 Academy Award nominations - really?!  Wow, 2009 must have been a bad year for films if it was considered one of the best.  I mean it's an interesting story (if one that goes on & on & on...), but possible Best Picture?  Nah.

The only thing is the scenery shots in/around New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain, and when they sailed down to the Keys, made me sooo homesick for 'my South' (south Florida in my case) - the weather, the heat/humidity (in my mind, I can still smell the orange blossoms, jasmine & magnolia in the hot, humid air), palm trees, the warm sandy beaches, etc.  :(

Hairspray because I love musicals and my BF, not knowing that he loved musicals until I told him that he does, hadn't seen it. Now he wants a mini John-Travolta-in-Drag to keep in a hamster cage and do our ironing.

I hated that movie. It was waaaay too long, didn't seem to really have a point, and the acting was "meh". That said, it's based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald that does sound interesting.

Just finished watching Philadelphia. I'm crying now, of course, but wow, such a good movie.
