My FLR
« on: November 06, 2005, 10:42:01 PM »
Its my time to apply for my FLR and I have a few questions I hope can be answered:

I am planning on sending away for my FLR in mid-December through the post, my fiance visa expires December 28. If Dec 28th passes and they are still processing it,is that going to be a problem?

What documents do I need to send with my FLR?

Whats the best method to send it? Royal Mail? UPS? aor another way?

Under dependants section on the form,is this asking for my daughters information?

Do they usually approve FLR? or Is there a chance it might get denied and if so,what circumstances do they usually deny it?

Thanks ;D

The form should have a list of all the documents you need to send - US passport, marriage certificate, etc.

Don't take chances with it, post it Special Delivery and enclose a self-addressed Special Delivery envelope for them to send your documents back to you.

The dependents section applies - IIRC - only if your child needs a visa as well.  But yours does not b/c she is a British national.

If you came in on a fiance visa, it's not very likely your FLR will be denied.

Good luck!

Great thanks.
Do you think it would be a problem if my fiance visa expires while they are still processing it?

Since you came on the fiancee visa, it's going to be a breeze. Just make sure you have all of the correct paperwork and you'll be fine. I wouldn't suggest Royal Mail. Jamie sent his docs over to the US and Royal Mail told me they were lost and didn't give a poo to be honest. They didn't lose them, but I would never send anything important with them again. I would use UPS. I've delt with them with my computer. I've had to send bits back to Apple and I trust them. My mom used to deal with UPS everyday at her old job as well.

Nope, that won't be a problem.  As long as you've applied before your fiancee' visa expires you'll be okay.

I'm curious as to why you don't just apply now for the FLR, since you're married already.  Is it a matter of saving up to pay the fee?

No,its not that. Its mainly a matter of waiting for paperwork in the mail, like my hubbys bank statements and also waiting for my hubbys passport to come in. We just got married in late september and I had our baby soon afterwards,so its been kinda hectic lately

Thanks for the answers everyone, I appreciate it ;D
