EDITED:

There is now a separate PETS board! Please post all PETS questions there. I think I've moved all of the PETS related topics from here to there, and hopefully the new baord will be a better reference guide for movers. :)

Leah is the one that did all the magic, I just did the grunt work. ;)

My fiancée is keen on having a general pet discussion board on here - any chance of one being created?  You know, for discussion about anything and everything to do with cats, dogs, fish, etc. :)

They're not keen on that one because it focuses on moving pets to the UK.

I've always thought there should be two separate boards - one for PETS and one for pets.

Ahh, generally the problem with too many child boards is it just fragments all the posts and decreases overall activity. I see it a lot in "new" forums, they attempt to copy the segmented style of larger boards and end up with lots of dead child boards which actually decreases overall posting as people don't browse through boards that they have "no interest" in but would read random threads that come up generally and maybe post in them.

Unless a topic needs restricted access or is particularly controversial it's usually better to have as few child boards or sections as possible, the exception to that (and of course what UKY does very well) are areas which have a really high volume of posts, which looking through posting history pets doesn't seem to (imo of course).

Not my decision of course, just some thoughts :)

Also, can I ask why you posted on behalf of your fiancee? I thought she had an account. (Just wondering! :)  )

I'm fairly new and have been browsing all the boards on here over the last week.  My DF had told me about UKY and mentioned that she thought a separate pets board would be useful.  I came across the post "Pets Pets Pets Pets Pets ! ! ! ! !" and thought it would be a good place to mention it :)

Hi all - Leah has said that she will be setting up a new Pets section for you (away from Moving Issues), when she gets some free time to do it.  Not sure yet if it'll be its own section all by itself, or possibly a Child Board of Chit Chat or Expat Life or some such.

So watch this space.

Nice!  I didn't care one way or another -- have posted random pet things in the pet moving forum in the past, but I'm always up for more pet stuff.  So thanks! ;D

That's awesome!  Looking forward to it! Thanks Mrs. Robinson!  :)

The New Pet Chat board is up and I've moved some random pet topics out of the Moving Pets board. Enjoy! ;)
