Really stupid question...
« on: November 08, 2005, 07:13:28 PM »
I'm trying to make an appointment online for myself and my fiance at the Chicago Consulate office for a Fiance Visa. Where it says "number of applications for this appointment", it is just one, correct???

They do not need any of his info at that time, and I am the only one "making" the application-is that right???

sorry, just dont want to screw up!

ok...am I taking this too literally??

From the Consulate website after confirming my appointment:

"Please note that only applicants with scheduled appointments will be admitted into the Consulate, except for children under 18 years of age accompanied by a parent, and assistants for the disabled."

Does that mean my fiance can't be there???

um, I think I read on a post here that it is up to the person at the door if they will allow the partner in. It is not necessary though.

But I've also read on here that lots of couples applied "in person" together??

if he can be there, great... just make sure he has ID upon arrival. It is your visa though. The documentation is supposed to be the evidence.

Hi snupy. I applied at the Chicago consulate in May and they let my husband in. I was there a few times and both guys checking people in downstairs and  running the metal detector upstairs were really nice and didn't even mention that my husband might not be able to go in.

I'm sure they'll let him in.

cool. thanks I was going to do fasttrack, but my df sent his certified copies about 6 weeks ago and they never arrived :(

So now, I'm going in person and he will be here

If you are applying in person you still have to submit your application through fasttrack

Not unless they've changed the rules recently.   ???

Maybe it could just be New York then? Because when I went in person I still had to submit my application online. And also bring a hardcopy with me

Just checked -- looks like you submit the application and pay ahead of time, but you don't have to send any supporting documents in with the application.

Just different than it used to be -- fasttrack was an option, but not required.

Thought what was an option?

You do have to submit your application online before you go to the consulate. Paying online is optional though...you may pay in person if you'd like. I applied last May and that's how it was then.
