Flying into Cardiff as opposed to London.. any differences??
« on: November 12, 2005, 11:12:14 PM »
Not sure if this is the right board but here goes......

I've flown into London 5 times (twice into Heathrow and thrice into Gatwick) and Brimmingham once and I've noticed that the Immigration control at each is a bit different in toughness.  I was wondering if anyone has flown into Cardiff and could comment on their IC.   Being a smaller airport it could very well go one of two ways... tougher (because they are smaller and trying to prove they do a good job) or more lax (as they are smaller and have less international traffic).. but then again I could be totally wrong and a wee bit more nervous then I realized about flying over again :)

Nope... sorry!   :-\\\\
I was surprised to hear that there are direct flights from the US to Cardiff (if that's what you're saying...)

Actually it's a direct flight from Toronto... could be that's why no one here has done it before... oops.    Ah well, I'm sure it will be just fine.

How did it end up going?  I may be doing the same thing soon.

I've flown in and out of Cardiff many times, but never to or from the US or Canada. Sorry, I can't comment on how Immigration is there, but in general the airport is nice and small and extremely manageable! :)

Let us know how it went.  I flew into Gatwick and then took the bus to Cardiff.  If I can find an affordable ticket, which I doubt, I'd much rather go that route.  I don't care to go through London traffic again in uncomfortable bus seats. [smiley=confused.gif]

Flying into Cardiff was fast and simple.  No promblems whatsoever with Passport control, like so have had going thru Gatwick or Heathrow.   I'd  have to say it was my best entry into the country yet.
Now I just have to get through Belfast with my Spousal Visa, in 2 1/2 weeks.. fun and games.

I have flown into Cardiff with no problems. Never really had any problems flying into Gatwick either.

I wish I could get a direct flight from Cardiff to Atlanta. It would make traveling home so much easier.
