I founs a recipe I may give a try, this winter.

Simmer the following ingredients for 20 min. It’s better if you steep in the refrigerator overnight, but if you prefer, strain & drink right away. Serve warm.

1 bottle of fruity red wine (Spanish wine is a good choice)
1 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
3 whole cloves
1 tsp grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp toasted whole black peppercorns
1/2 tsp whole allspice
1/2 vanilla bean
1 star anise
1 sliced orange
1 sliced lemon
1 cup cognac or brandy
Serve in coffee cups.

Never hold Farts in. They travel up your spine and to your brain. This is where sh*tty Ideas come from.

but i LOVE MULLED WINE even better!
mmmm. ghluewein!

I love gluehwein!! When we lived in Vienna, last Christmas, we would go to the beautiful Christkindlmarkt in the evenings and stand out in the cold drinking hot mugs of it! The only problem is that it goes down so easy especially when it is freezing outside, but the hangover from it is blinding!

We had it at my wedding as people came into the reception.  It was on Nov. 5 and it was freezing!!!  We had done a horse and carriage from the church so that mulled wine felt pretty good when we got to the hotel!!!!

You will LOVE having it at your wedding!!  Do you have a lot of American guests?  They'll love it too!!  Where are you getting married?  I was married in Cirencester, which is in the Cotswolds.

Starbucks has eggnog lattes this time of year!

Don't talk to me about eggnog lattes. :\\\'( :P I left early for work yesterday morning just to have time to stop off and pick up an eggnog latte. Waited in a loooonnnnngg line in the drive thru just to get to the front and the guy say "You had a hot chocolate right?" Umm no it was an eggnog latte. Oh he says as he picks up a cup and looks it over and says "Here it is right here." I pay a fortune for it but it's only once a year you can get it right? It's burning hot and I drive a stick shift so there's no drinking it as I drive. So when I get to work is when I discover they gave me something OTHER than my latte. Needless to say I'm not a happy camper. >:( I don't even know what the hell it was they gave me. Yeah I drank it after adding a ton of sugar but it just wasn't my eggnog latte. :(

Just found this very cool UK/Ireland food site:  http://thefoody.com/home.html

Simon and I laughed for an hour while I read all the crazy stuff I've never heard of.  He just called me a hippie and said we Americans just don't know anything.   ;D   ::)

Anyway - found this there - sounds really good!!

Rich Eggnog

850 ml (1½ pint) Milk
850 ml (1½ pint) Cream
340ml (12fl oz) Brandy
170g (6oz) Sugar
110ml (4fl oz) Rum
110g (4oz) Icing sugar
6 Large eggs
Nutmeg to taste

Separate the eggs.
Beat the yolks slowly whilst adding the sugar; until the mixture is pale and golden.
Now slowly add in the brandy and rum, then beat in the milk and half the cream.
Set aside until just before serving.
Whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold into the mixture.
Whip the remaining cream and icing sugar until thick.
Top each glass with whipped cream and a little freshly grated nutmeg.
Serves: 8

They may have given you an eggnog latte but skimped on the syrup they use for flavor. This tends to be the case with many of their flavored drinks.

I was appalled when I ordered a chai and watched the barrista squeeze in the flavor. I've been put off Starbucks since then. What's so hard about tea, milk and spice?  [smiley=confused.gif]

Im sure they use real eggnog  not syrup. That might have been the case in your chai tea drink.

and their other seasonal drinks from what I've observed... although the use of real eggnog would make sense in a flavored latte of the same name... so who will investigate?

this made me laugh  ;D

but here is the answer according to this site

http://www.quicksilverweb.net/sbucks/sbcharts.htm

Probably the most widely-anticipated winter holiday drink. People start asking about it in September, but on average these aren't sold until mid-November sometime. The drink is real eggnog, mixed with a tiny bit of milk to help it steam (Don't bother asking for non-fat. Trust me on this.), espresso, and nutmeg on top. Eggnog makes a hell of a racket when it's steamed -- sounds like an F-16 taking off, so be ready to plug your ears if you're lurking near the espresso bar.

so basically hot egg nog with espresso and whipped cream at over $3 a pop... hmm sounds like the scam they run with the Caramel Apple Cider- hot apple juice with caramel.
