instant/powdered iced tea mix?
« on: November 21, 2005, 09:08:26 AM »
In the USA, is it possible to get packets of powdered / instant iced tea mix in various flavours, like lemon, peach, etc.... in particular looking for a 'diet' or 'light' version.

This isnt for me... my iced tea fixations are well and truly formed in the 'plain' mode!   It's for a friend who is right into these flavoured Lipton iced tea that you can buy in bottles here, but she is looking for a diet / low-cal version.  I'd love to surprise her with some of these packets, if they exist!

I've even seen individual packets to make up in 500ml bottles.

Can't you make Russian tea at home?  In the US, I used to use a drop of concentrated OJ (along with cloves and a touch of cinnamon), but I'm sure that you could scrap by with normal OJ.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

I want the powdered stuff so I can take it on the move w/me, particularly to work where we have no staff canteen, but we do have a kettle.   :D

There is a jar of instant tea called Lilt which you usually find in the tea/coffee sections, the red jar is sugared and the green jar is not, you can make iced tea with them and I think they are usually about 35p or so.

Yeah, I think there's a thread on here somewhere about iced tea, I had my mom bring me a jar of the stuff which I am still hoarding. Just checked the cupboard and the stuff you can get here is called Lift, not Lilt, also Tescos does a Tescos brand of it too, the jars look exactly the same, red for sugared, green for non. It's like a small jar of instant coffee but it's tea and it can be made cold, tastes alright, too.
