thanks for the understanding. it's not really about the "things" per se and I am sure I am being sensitive given all going on at the moment. Very true about family either making you feel great or knowing exactly how to push your  buttons... I feel like we are kids again and I am the OLDER sister, go figure!!  :-\\\\

Lol- I'm the older sister, too, but that doesn't mean they don't totally PLOW over me constantly. . .  ::)

Just keep reminding yourself that they USUALLY do it b/c they either don't KNOW how bad it hurts, are doing it to hurt you because THEY are hurting/jealous, or because thy're psychotic. . . . There really are only the three options, and if it's due to the last one, it's GOOD you are leaving.  ;)

;) Well, thankfully my lil' sis is not psychotic.  :P

You are right MissyMo, she probably doesn't realize she is hurting my feelings. I had a chat about this with one of my dear friends this evening. She is a big sis too and said her lil' sis is the only person in the world who could hurt her feelings the quickest. So I am glad to hear it is "normal."  ;D

btw... she succumbed and bought a tub of Cool Whip. Ah, victory!! ;)

Congratulations on the Cool Whip!! Just wondering if you have seen or read In Her Shoes? If not, I highly recommend it. Very good sappy sister movie.

I agree that the book was better. I don't mind a sappy, light book, but I like more intense, dramatic movies.

Thanks everyone for all of your help!!  My Thanksgiving turned out great (unless my hubby was lying about how he liked the food!).  I made:

- spinach salad iwth tomatoes, walnuts and cider vinaigrette
- just some turkey with chestnuts for my hubby as I'm a veggie!
- orange, chestnut and cranberry stuffing
- cranberry sauce with burgundy
- pumpkin bread with pumpkin butter (both courtesy of Willams Sonoma before I left!!)
- spicy egg nog coffe (from Kings before I left!)

I wound up greasing the pan with butter, which worked great.  Thanks for all of your tips !!!!

Here it is, but i don't know measurements of anything, I just do it randomly.

Peel one smallish pumpkin and 3-4 carrots and cut into chunks, toss with a generous amount of olive oil, curry powder and salt and pepper and a small dash of chili powder and roast in the oven for about 40 minutes turning once. Remove from the oven and puree either with a regular or hand blender.
In a soup pot, saute a large, chopped onion, a couple cloves of chopped garlic, about 3 tablespoons of minced ginger and a peeled and chopped apple (I use a tart baking type) in olive oil. Pour in about 2 cups of chicken broth (you could also use vegetable broth) and pureed pumpkin/carrots and add salt, pepper and a bit more curry to taste. Bring to a low boil and then reduce heat to low and cook uncovered for about 30 minutes. Puree again and add about 1/2 cup plain yogurt.  Serve with some hearty bread and butter.
It is yummy!!

Let me know if you have any questions and if you make it, how it turns out.
