Holiday Favorite recipes

Ok these are taken out of my favorite holiday cookbook I have been using this one for AGES!


First one I will put on here is easy egg nog!

3 Cups milk
1 (14 ounce) can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed Milk NOT EVAPORATED MILK!
4 eggs (use only grade a clean, uncracked eggs)
1/2 cup bourbon
1 cup (1/2 pint) whipping cream, whipped
1 teaspoon vanilla
dash ground cinnamon
dash ground nutmeg


In large mixer bowl, combine milk, sweetened condensed milk, eggs and beat on low. Stir in bourbon and vanilla
chill

before serving top with whipped cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg

Original Green Bean Cassarole

2 cans (16 ounces each) cut green beans drained or 2 packages (9 ounces each of frozen cut green beans, cooked and drained)
3/4 cup milk
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 can of fried onions

preheat oven to 350 degrees In medium bowl, combine beans, milk,soup, pepper and 1/2 of frien onions. Pour into 1 1/2  quart casserole. Bake uncovered, at 350 degree for 30 minutes or until heated through. Top with remaining onions. bake, uncovered, 5 minutes or until onions are olden brown

Ambrosia

1 can pineapple chunks
1 can mandarin orange segments
1 firm banana, sliced, optional
1 1/2 cup seedless grapes
1 cup mini marshmellows
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup pecan halves or coarsely chopped nuts
1 cup dairy sour cream or plain yogurt
1 tables spoon brown sugar

Drain pineapple and orange segments, in a large bowl, combine pineapple, orange, banana, graes marshmellows, coconut, and nuts.

In 1-quart measure, combine sour cream and brown sugar. Stir into fruit mixture.
Refridgerate covered, 1 hour or overnight

Magic cookie bars

1/2 cup marg or butter
1 1/2 cups of graham cracker or other crumbs (crumbed rich tea or digestives)
1 can condensed milk (14 ounce)
1 cup semi- swwt chocolate chips
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chopped nuts

preheat oven to 350 (325 if glass dish)
in 13x9 baking pan melt margarine in oven sprinkle crumbs over marg. pour sweetened milk evenly over crumbs. Top with remaining ingred. press down firmly.

Bake 25 or 30 mins or until lightly browned
cool
cut into bars
store loosely

ooh! Good idea! With a big spoon, directly out of the bowl you mixed it in  :)

These next ones are out of the Pillsbury Family Christmas cookbook


This is called Holiday Cookie Mix

It makes a BIG batch of cookie dough and you it as a base for other cookie recipes

12 Cups all purpose flour
7 cups sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
4 teaspoons salt
4 cups (2 pounds of butter or marg)

lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off,
In a 4 quart bowl, combine 1/2 each of the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. using fork or pastry blender, cut 1/2 of the butter into flour micture until mixture resembles coarse crumbs

Place in a large tightly covered container and repeat with remaing half of ingrediants. Store in fridge or freezer

allow mixture to come to room temp before use!

Fast N Festive pressed cookies

I have a wilton cookie press which makes perfect pressed cookies


3 Cups Holiday cookie mix
1/3 cup dairy sour cream or I use creme fraiche
colored sugar if desired


allow mix to come to room temp mix in bowl with sour cream at low speed until well mixed and dough forms
fill cookie press and press dough into desired shapes, sprinkle sugar and bake at 375 for 8 to 11 minutes until edges brown
makes 3 1/2 dozen

Crispy Sugar Cookies

4 cups Holiday Cookie Mx
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg

dip measuring cup into mix and level off; allow to come to room temperature.
Heat oven to 350 In large bowl, combine all ingrediants at low speed until well mixed and soft dough forms

on well floured suface roll out 1/3 of dough at a time to 1/4 inch thickness cut with floured cookie cutter

coconut-cherry chews

3 cups holiday cookie mix
1 cup coconut
2 teaspoons almond extract
1 egg
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water
1 to 1 1/2 cups coconut
red candied cherries, halved

dip measuring cup into mix and level off

in large bowl combine mix, 1 cup coconut, almond extract and egg at low speed until well mixed and dough forms.

In a small bowl, beat egg white and water until foamy. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Dip in egg white mixture, roll in coconut. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Place cherry in center of each cookie pressing down lightly. Bake at 375 for 11 to 14 minutes or until edges are light golden brown

molasses ginger cutouts

Another corn bread recipe

1 cup flour
1 cup cornmeal
2 tablesspoons sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/4 cup oil or melted shortening
1 egg slighted beaten

heat oven to 425 grease 8 or 9 inch pan

comine all ingrediants and pour into pan and bake until toothpick comes out clean

Corn Bread dressing

1/4 cup mar or butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
3 cups corn bread crumbs
2  cups dry bread crumbs
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 to 1 teaspoon sage leaves crumbled
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chicken broth
1 egg beaten

Heat oven to 325 Grease 9 inch square pan melt mar in small skillet over medium high heat. add onion and celery
cook and stir until tender
in medium bowl combine cooked onion and celery with remaining ingredients. mix well

place in greased pan and pour chicken broth over..bake for 1 hour and basting with turkey juices from roasting turkey
