OK, thats the same as ours here... we get 4 ounces when you push the 1 cup button.  This is the one we use all the time... we prefer a smaller cup because it stays fresh and hot.

But those pods on JavaPodz definitely say that each pod brews 8oz, so it might be that these will be too strong for a 4 ounce cup if i buy them...  :-\\\\

I think it really depends on how strong you like your coffee.  For example, I usually use the medium roast Senseo pods and make 8 oz. with one pod.  I find it to be just the right strength.  I do the same with the JavaPodz and it's a bit stronger, but not too much.

I don't know if that is any help.

Okay, just made a cup w/my JavaPodz and I think it would be VERY strong if it was made on the one cup setting.  If you only use the one cup setting I think they may be too much.

I bit the bullet and ordered 2 packets of pods... French Vanilla, and Chocolate Cappuccino.
The postage was $23!!!   :o

This is my problem with my Senseo. I do like it, but I find I haven't used it much over the past 6 months simply because the coffee does not stay hot! Maybe if I drank it black and quickly, it would be OK. But once you add milk, it's lukewarm within seconds. I've tried heating the milk before adding it, but that's just adding another fiddly step (I'm a non-microwave person), so I usually just don't bother with making coffee at all. :(

Any advice?

I keep a tub of dried skimmed milk powder right next to the Senseo... a couple of spoonfuls of that (plus any sugar or sweetener you use) in the bottom of the cup before the coffee goes in... dispense the coffee, and stir while the cup is filling up.   Perfect, milky, HOT coffee!

Alternatively,  i sometimes do the microwave thing and warm the milk for 10 seconds in the cup before the coffee goes in... but the powdered milk works perfectly well.

It's just normal milk... dehydrated!
I probably wouldnt drink a glass of it (unless it was ice-cold) , but it's perfect in coffee!   You would never know it wasnt liquid milk.... i promise!

Yesterday we had gorgeous coffee... i opened a small tin of evaporated milk (hadnt been in the fridge, so was room temp) and we put that in our coffee... cup after cup!  It was really nice, cos it has a sort of 'concentrated' milky flavour.

OK, OK, I'll try it.

It just reminds me of my childhood in countries where that's all we had -- powdered milk. Real milk wasn't safe to drink. And I hated the powdered stuff! Maybe it's improved since the '60s?

well, you're not drinking it...  you're just using it to flavour & whiten your coffee!  ;)

Anyway, it was just a suggestion.  :)

NEW SENSEO ALERT!

I just got back from a few days away in Germany, and while i was there, i went to a supermarket to pick up some Senseo pods, cos they are cheaper than here, and also you sometimes get different flavours...

They've got something new!  It's Senseo Cappuccino... the pod actually contains the milk powder!
Because the pods contain coffee and milk powder, they are thicker, so you have to use the 2-cup pod holder, even if you are only making 1 cup, but.... they're really nice!   I wouldnt try to buy them all the time, because for me, it's just as easy to add milk powder, or evap milk or whatever... but they're interesting!  The layer of crema on the top is also slighty taller and frothier.

I dont imagine they will ever sell these here, but if you know anyone in Germany or Holland, im sure they can get it for you... or if you're going a wee trip over there.
There are also lots of Dutch & German Senseo sellers on eBay (Tektrum, for example) that will probably be selling these, if anyone is interested.

Way cool! Do they have decaf cap, by any chance?

My Java Podz have arrived!   The Chocolate Cappuccino is gorgeous... you can really taste the chocolate.   The French Vanilla, though, is disappointing... you can smell the vanilla if you sniff the pod, but it doesnt taste of vanilla at all.

As i mentioned before... their website states that each pod makes 2 cups, but i use each pod for 1 cup, and it's absolutely perfect.  Not too strong.  :)

They arrived in really nice Ziploc bags with a big pink zip on them!    (Bonus!!)  ;)
