Bathing . . . together from the get go

Moms of two or more - have you bathed your children together from the get go, or 'introduced' the newbie to the older siblings?

I cant really remember when I started doing it. I mean obviously it was when baby can sit by himself. But since I have four I always bathe the two youngest together. So Jack and Coby have a bath together. Jack sits in his bathseat. Jordan is 10 so of course he takes a shower and Brett 7, has a bath by himself but once in awhile I stick Coby in with him. It all depends how grubby he is.

When you have seven children in the family and one bathroom, the only way everyone gets a bath before bedtime is to have communal baths. Mom bathed us together (in age appropriate groups, of course) after infancy. Fostered the older ones looking out for the baby. Wonderful practice!

I have one of those recliner things for the bath - never bothered with baby tubs, just stick the recliner (you can get a terry-cloth one from Mothercare for @£6) in the bathtub and lay baby on it, fill the tub to whatever level you are comfortable with (obviously doesn't need to be much). Once my son got to where he liked baths, I let my daughter get in with him, just for a few minutes, to splash together; she loved it and always asks to share his bath. She gets a little too excited for him so it's not an every bath thing yet, when he is bigger I'll probably let the two of them play together more often. Anyway the recliner thing is handy, esp for having the two in the bath at the same time.

We have the terry cloth recliner and still using it after nearly 3 years.  It's perfect!
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

We used one of those recliners when Ellen was a baby.  I can see how that would make bathing together easier!  Although she's into taking showers now....We're not allowed to go into the shower with her or open the door to peek!  She's really starting to get into her privacy lately.   ::)

We have a plastic recliner we used on Aillidh.  She's all excited about baby 'brutha' or 'sista'.  BUT, at the 'mo she hates sitting the bath or having her (long) hair washed, so I'm wondering if a baby to share the bath with would help.

Jonah was bathed in the sink until he outgrew it at about 3 months.  We then started taking baths with both kids, holding Jonah to save him from Sophia's enthusiastic bathing practices.  He is 7 months old now and is able to play in the tub with her, so now they always bathe together.  We used the plastic reclining thing with Sophia, she loved it but he hated it.  Go figure

I have one of those, its brilliant. Courtney loves to squirm and move around a lot so I was always hesitant when giving her a bath before the recliner seats. I was always scared she would get too slippery and slip out of my hands. She likes baths a lot better now with the recliner.
