Sponser is different to Fiance?
« on: December 04, 2005, 12:11:51 AM »
My fiance and I are heading to NYC tomorrow, as we have an appointment booked for a Visa Application. She's american, moving here with the intention of marrying me, i'm a British citizen living in the UK with my mother.

Here's the question.

I'm unemployed, i was on JSA til a month ago, so my mother is the sponser. The VAF2 form seems to be written with the idea that the sponser is who the applicant is in a relationship with.

What do we do?

I'm pretty sure that the 'sponsor' is always the one who the application is based on- in this case, you, the fiance.  However, to meet the financial requirements, your mother is a co-sponsor on the application. So everything on the VAF2 which refers to the sponsor refers to you, not your mother.

yup Rose is correct. Keep in mind if you are using her as a co-sponser you will need her bank statements and a letter from her stating she will support you. Some wage-slips would help as well.
There is a section in the application where it asks about co-sponser and thats where you'd put her name and information.
