Nesting
« on: December 05, 2005, 08:40:35 AM »
I did not 'nest' whilst pregnant w/Aillidh.  This time, however, I've gone into overdrive tidying, reorganising and clearing out.  Sinusitis prevents me from sleeping much, so I've been using the time wisely - I've been up since about 6 and so far made two batches of cookies to freeze, truffles to freeze, cleaned out 2 cabinets and done 2 loads of washing!  :o

If you were a 'nester', how long was it before you fell into labour?

However nice it is that I'm getting so much done, the inability to sleep b/c of the sinusitis is driving me slowly insane.

The only time I really remember was with my first son. I got down on my hands and knees and shampooed the carpet with one of those hand held shampooer attachments. I had him the next week.

I was nesting for about 2 weeks before my due date and was 10 days overdue.  It helped that I had an unnatural love for the smell of cleaning products.  My house was never cleaner than it was just before Jonah was born, and may never be again!

Best of luck to you.  Just remember, a hike may help!  Sending labor vibes your way!

I was so looking forward to the whole nesting phase, but sadly never got a chance to get to it.  I was put on bedrest, then induced.  My house has been a mess ever since!  ;)

I'm convinced it's a wee girl now, so I've sorted ALL of Aillidh's old clothes by month and organised her cupboard.  Aw, such a lovely trip down memory lane, remembering how tiny Aillidh once was.

I made all my homemade cleansers, so I have all new ones to use.  Did some crafts, etc.  My kitchen is gleaming and my freezer stuffed full of frozen goodies ready to eat.

This NEVER happened w/Aillidh.  I just wanted to lay on the couch like the beeched whale I was.

Unfortunately, we found out today that Aillidh has very expensive feet to fit - long and skinny like the rest of her.  She wears a size 6D and we had to go Russell & Bromley  :o to find her shoes.

A hike is sounding better and better every day, though.   ;D  I think I lucked out w/Aillidh, who was born at 38 weeks + 3 days.

This baby is only 2/5 engaged.  I want her to come out!

That's about all I wanted to do as I neared my due date!  My husband had to prod me to get me out walking.

During my last month of pregnancy I woke up at 4am and decided to paint one of her dressers. Then I completly re-decorated the room after I was done painting.
The day I went into labor I was about to go to the shop with my SIL but I refused to go until I completly sweeped the living room floor spotless, even moved the furniture to sweep........... 4 hours later my waterbroke

OMG, I had that with daughter #2!!  I used to scrub the tub and sinks compulsively because the Comet smelled soooooo good!

Sadly, yes, that went away pretty much immediately.

OMG you'd be buying a pair of baby GUCCI boots for that kind of money here... WHOW!

£33 for a pair of Start Rite boots, the only brand that makes her narrow width.  £26 for a pair of dress shoes.

And believe you me, I hunted ALL over.  She's got narrow, long feet w/even narrower heels.

She's tall and thin - a nightmare when it comes to clothes!

Sounds like she's going to be a model... :)

She looks most like Andrew's mum, who is 5ft., 10 in.  She's 64, and back when she was a girl, she stuck out like a sore thumb - that was very unusual, especially for females.  People have gotten taller over the years.  His mum's dad was 6ft, 5in, as is Andrew's brother.  So who knows?

Both Andrew and I have slender builds, so it's likely she got that part from both of us.

In a way it's sort of sad, b/c people assume she's a bit older than she is.  People think she's 3 - or even older.  Even in one of her toddler groups!  :o
