Non-skid slipper socks
« on: December 07, 2005, 11:53:20 PM »
I'm looking for a pair of thick slipper socks with non-skid grips on the bottom for my toddler.  H&M had non-skid socks that were quite thin, and thick socks that were not non-skid.  I haven't seen them elsewhere in toddler sizes.  Anyone know a place I could check?  Ellen is such a runner and a climber that I think regular slippers would trip her up and fall off, but I dont want to chance anything without non-skid grips on the bottom!  Thanks!

We got ours at Old Navy in the States, but unfortunatly they don't ship overseas.  My SIL sent me some from the UK, but I have no idea where she got them, so I know they do exist, somewhere.

Have you thought about buying the thick socks, and sewing something on the bottom to make them nonskid? They probably have something you could iron on as well, I would check at a haberdashery, John Lewis has a GREAT one, which I was happy to find, and the prices are decent, and the salespeople SUPER helpful!! I would just give a salesperson the idea, and see what they could come up with. You wouldn't have to be much of a sewer, and would not need a machine, if you can do a hem, or button, you could sew something onto socks!! You could even do her name, or a little saying, or something.  Even just putting a bit of the rough part of velcro would probably work.

I should get some of these!  We have some creepy looking stairs we inherited when Rich bought this house.  I have fallen once (Not pregnant or drunk at the time)  I don't want to risk it again.  I'm looking at the site Mimsy, which ones do you recommend?

lol....we have exactly 5 steps in my flat and i've fallen down every one of them. not drunk, not pregnant, just clutzy. my husband insisted on rubber-bottomed socks as a new rule. happy to report i've not fallen again.

i can't find the exact one's i bought - i got them from john lewis. they were pink and stripey and pretty thick, which is good for winter

out of the blue i saw thick non-skid socks at dorothy perkins.  they were adult ones- but they were all decorated for xmas with santas etc. very cute and very thick.

My daughter was given some thick piglet slipper socks.  I'm not sure where they were purchased, but they are disney, so maybe a disney store?
