No Cheesecake or Choc-Strawberries???
« on: December 08, 2005, 05:59:16 AM »
Ok, so I wanted to do something nice for my partner's mom for her upcoming birthday. I love chocolate covered strawberries, so I thought I'd send her some of those. So, after long hours of searching online for places that deliver in the uk, I gave up and started looking for cheesecake delivery instead. No luck on that either. I ended up sending some cupcakes instead from sarah louise.

In the US, there's loads and loads of sites for cheesecake and choc-covered strawberries, none that deliver worldwide as that stuff is perishable and has to go through customs.

So, I was wondering if anyone has found or went looking for either of these tasty desserts here in the uk? Or a US site that delivers here? Or any place where I could physically go to if I so wanted to treat myself once a year or something.

 ???

Costco has two kinds of cheesecake.
1)New York Cheesecake
2)Cheesecake Factory
You just need to find someone with a Costco card.

There are plenty of shops that sell both and these will vary by region.  I don't know of any place on line that does them though.  You will find that there are lots of nice hampers and other things you can send instead.  You can also make your own as well.

I've seen cheesecake at Costco and M&S.  Haven't seen chocoloate covered strawberries, though!

It's easy enough to make chocolate covered strawberries, and there's no shortage of either of the ingredients!! Something really weird, someone gave me as a gift a long time ago, chocolate covered potato chips!!! Sounds gross, and they bought them somewhere, but they were actually delicious!!!! This thread reminds me of them, and now I want to try my hand at making them!

there's a great choc store somewhere in Ohio that has amazing choc covered potate chips.  i remember the waffley/crinkley ones being the best.

Hotel Chocolat do a wonderful chocolate fondue set that includes marshmallows, cookies, blueberries, strawberries etc - you get 3 microwaveable choc sauces (plain, milk and white) and it's simply one of the best chocs ever- there is always plenty of sauce left over for them to get their own punnets of fresh strawberries.

Not quite the same, but a very yummy and beautifully packaged alternative.
