LOL!!!! Sorry, I can't stop laughing!

Well, we have a long way to go before having to think about this for real anyway. . . . (thankfully!)

Another thing to ponder (not to stress you out at all, I promise) is the number of syllables.  For example, if your surname is one syllable, you'd probably want at least a 2- or 3-syllable first name.
For example, John Smith or Jean Smith doesn't really work.  Christopher Smith or Jacqueline Smith would probably be better.
(This is coming from a 1-syllable 1-syllable named person.   ::))

We had to have a name that worked in English (both British and American culture) and that worked in German  ::).

That  cuts the list down in a hurry (names I thought were lovely, classic, DH said no to because they sounded like the name of an old Swiss grandma). The other thing is we didn't want to pick a name that a million other kids had, because there was always at least one other kid, and sometimes 2, in my classes growing up with the same first name. I hated that.

We ran our prospective names through the US Social Security administration website (top 1000 names for each year) for the previous 10 years (can you tell I felt strongly on this one? LOL) as well as checking websites that showed the most popular baby names in the UK.  Then we had a short list. In the mean time of course since we couldn't agree on a girl's name, that's what the sonogram said we were having. One night we were watching a Shakesperean play on DVD - liked the main character and "Beatrice" was already on the list. Looked at each other and said, "That works." I think we were just tired of the name thing already. I'm not sure how far along you are, but I just wanted to say Good Luck with your choice. I'm sure you'll find something you'll both like. We can't imagine DD as anything else now - it's hard to believe any other names were even under consideration.
Stop waiting. Start doing.
