Last year we were asked specifically if we had Christmas crackers.  They're okay if you take the snaps out, though!

You don't need to bring them, I noticed several stores (like Marshalls & Home Goods) have some really nice ones here in CT! I was surprised, they were almost unheard of 8 yrs ago.

Granted, they will not be as nice as Harrods, but they're very pretty nonetheless.

Cost Plus World Market has a bunch of them too.

has anyone seen crackers in New Jersey?  If so, no need for me to bring.  I could always get those cracker making kits and put them together in the US, but it seems like SOOOO much hassle for just a little pop!

I have all the answers....About Christmas Crackers!

Check with your airline, but American will allow up to 12 crackers in each person's checked luggage.

You can buy them online at Crate & Barrel and Williams Sonoma.  They have a few different varieities, but all include a paper crown and a joke.

Alternatively, if you want to dish out a bit more money for crackers, Hotel Chocolate has some that include yummy chocolates instead of a toy.  The are UK based, but ship to the US.  http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/cx1/

I can't find anywhere on Northwest's site about not being able to take Christmas Crackers in my luggage.  Does anyone know if I take them on NWA flights?

I took them last year in my checked luggage on BA - we even got randomly chosen for a bag search, so it's not like they didn't notice they were in there.

I just flew over with a six pack of crackers. I didn't even give it a thought whether I could travel with them until I was asked to be randomly searched. I mentioned them before my bag was searched... I had a pretty empty bag so the box was just on top and couldn't be missed.

American Airlines said it wasn't a problem since they were in the checked bag but they did question it for a moment.

I bought some nice ones so it would have sucked to open them to get the snap out  :-\\\\

Any updates on this? I just purchased some, and only realized when the cashier had to age verify that (duh) there are teeny tiny explosives! We've 12 total with 3 people traveling, so I'm hoping that if I keep them in their boxes (tho ugh - big box) and split between two pieces of luggage, it'll hopefully be ok.
If not, I guess merry Christmas to the security folks!
Thanks!

I would think if they are in your checked luggage it should be okay-- but this is just a guess, good luck!

I picked up these this year! They're lovely, although about 5 pounds a cracker. I think you get a discount if you buy several - I only got 2.
