I have been invited to a Holiday Cookie party at a friends house.  I am clueless at baking, does anyone have any recipes they can share?

Thank you all in advance.

I have to be honest, this whole "baking cookies for the holidays" thing in the U.S - is really starting to get to me and I am the anti-cook! I suddenly want to start piping on them and dipping them into stuff!

Anyway, I found a foolproof cookie deal last night on Cooking with Paula (Deen) and you simply get a roll of ready made cookie dough (plain) (or make your own) and you slice it up, place them on a baking sheet (Of course, nothing but those silicone jobbies will do!) and then on top you place any sweet or wafer of your choice, she used some kind of thin mint wafer and then placed another slice on top, , brushed the top with butter and smush-ed some pecans onto the top, baked for 10 mins and hey presto!

They looked delish! I thought how good they'd be with those Swoops inside- yuuum!

They certainly get you in the spirit and make you drool!
In the U.K, they do a dough with choc chips already in it by "Saxby's", it's in a small tub, you could always zhuzh them up a little! I don't remember seeing a plain one though, sorry!

On baking cookies the easy way:

1) go to the local bakery or shop and buy the nicest looking choco chip, oatmeal or peanut butter cookies you can find
2) go home, pat a bit of flour on your face and bum
3) just before leaving the house, place cookies on microwave safe plate, nuke for 30 seconds
4) arrive at said location panting as if running short on time
5) explain that you just took the last batch out of the oven, and you are sorry for looking so disheveld.

Another option is to buy cookies and dip 1/2 in a tempered chocolate, cool wrap, give

(for dipping: melt one bag of choco chips on LOW heat, add tablespoon of Crisco or similar.  Dip one end of cookie in pot, let excess choco run off, then place on wax paper to cool)

(edited to fix spelling)

IMO, drop cookies are the easist to make. No rolling, shaping, filling, frosting, etc. Try setting your timer a minute or 2 less than the called for time if the first batch is too brown. Or make them a bit bigger. For your future kitchen endeavours, they sell baking stones that are great for cookies since they are less likely to burn. Great for pizzas too. I adore mine and hope I am able to fit it into a Britsh oven!

Do I get a prize for posting the longest link in the world?  ;D

Baking is the only thing in the kitchen that I actually really enjoy and I am going to try to get a bunch of cookies done today.

Good Luck with your cookies and have fun! :)
