Lack of feeling Baby moving...
« on: December 14, 2005, 07:48:06 AM »
Does anyone know how often I should feel the baby move?  I am 23 weeks and have not felt anything in over 24 hours.  I did sleep, so perhaps I missed the little guy moving.  I felt the baby move since the beginning of November and he has been very active lately, just not recently.

If anyone knows, what I should already know ;), please share.

Thanks

It probably varies from baby to baby but if you're worried, call your midwife or labour ward.  At my hospital there was a day centre where you could walk in and get checked out - I went once because I hadn't felt the baby move all day and they put that fetal monitoring thing on me and all was fine.

I agree, you are going to the Dr today right?  Tell them about this.

I am still waiting to feel this baby move a lot, but I am only 17 and 1/2 weeks.  They say it happens between now and 22 weeks for some.  I've only felt him slightly so I can't wait to go to the midwife next week and hear him again!

Let us know how it goes, Maddie!  I didn't feel my first till later, but felt Roisin a lot earlier.

Keep us posted!

I remember in the U.S., if you felt decreased movement, they always suggested to drink a big glass of orange juice and lay down for a bit to see if that got Baby moving.  Keep us updated!

i have friends who say the baby didn't get to be fully active, like feeling all the time, until 28 weeks.

They felt them start around 20-21 and then it just got more and more active!

There are always periods of rest...and each child is different. Even with the twins...while they were in utero Caleb was in constant motion (like now!) and I had to  push and prod Josh every once in a while to get him to move! Try not to worry and hopefully you will be able to see your doctor today and have your mind put to rest.

Yes, I have an appointment today, so I will mentioned it to the GP.  The baby has been moving not stop for the last two weeks, DH has been able to feel him and so forth.  So, when I felt nothing, I became a little bit more aware that nothing was going on.

Both my girls moved a lot at first, and then between 23-26 weeks, they took a lull.  Apparently they have a wee growth spurt and spend more time growing.

I was just about to suggest this.  Give it a go-you probably just have a little sleeper in there!

While waiting in my GP's office, the baby began to move.  It was nice to feel and now my mind is at ease.  Thanks for the support.

Oh, and the OJ thing!  LOVE IT!!!  Rich bought some because I have a bad cold (2 Half Gallons on sale for £4.00 at Sainsbury's ;)) and I've been chugging away.  A few minutes later I feel this tapping feeling inside me.  I am almost finished with one of the cartons, that is how addicted I got to doing it! ::)
