I think as far as NHS and private goes, there's good dentists and bad dentists in both. As for wisdom teeth, I always thought they just yanked them out.

hope you get rid of that tooth ache carly!  Ive never heard of a wisdom tooth getting a filling.  They most always get extracted when they start to cause problems...

same here, a couple years ago in America they pulled one of my wizdom tooth. Dale looked at me like I was crazy when I said I hope they pull it. he said they normally don't pull any teeth and will use fillings instead  ::)  ..looks like I gotta look for my plyers :P

I'm a floss slave, was introduced to it in my time in the states by all of my dentists. I've never once even heard the word 'floss' mentioned here. Just wondering if anyone else has??

i totally agree with the floss thing. my dental hygeine is nothing special but i have really good teeth b/c i floss. i also chew sugarless gum which i think pulls the gunk out too. most brits don't seem to floss. my husband never does and i think it's so silly b/c it's such an easy way to sort your teeth out.

LOL! That is funny because for folks that aren't used to that he must have thought "your nuts, oh thanks for that"! No one likes to get a tooth pulled but I know what you mean. I had all four of mine removed before I got braces as a teen....its not fun! Although some folks have an easier time of it than others.  As Jennredd said, I have never heard of putting a filling in either?

Did your husband get it sorted?

he is done with the antibiotics and the swelling went down, but the tooth is still tender.  I think it should come out but I bet he wont go back to the dentist until it swells up again!  MEN!!! ::)

tell me about it! Dale refuses to go to the doctor for any reason! He could have a bullet wound he'll and say "its alright  its just a bit of bleeding,a doctor won't do anything" ::)

i'm soooooooooooo scared of new dentists--whether i'm in the us or the uk.

i have severe tmj, and some dentists & doctors don't even acknowledge its existence. they expect me to keep my mouth wide open for an entire procedure, which is physically impossible for me to do.

i've been seeing a specialist for the past 18 months, and he's managed to help me more in that time than all the other dentists & er doctors in the previous 10 years. i've just finished the treatment to readjust my bite & alleviate the tension on my jaw joints, and i pray every day that it works for good. my specialist has given me the names & contact info for some uk colleagues, but i'm paranoid about starting out with someone new. i don't think i can bear to go through the pain again like i have the past year & a half.  :-\\\\

anybody know how much vicodin & muscle relaxers you can legally bring into the uk?  ???
