Teething

Courtney is already teething. And at  8 weeks, she is too young for any type of gel or medicine,Does anyone have any suggestions on something I can do to help her with the pain naturally?

Are you sure she's teething?  It's not general miserableness or a cold?

she had a doctors appt on thursday and he noticed her gums & said shes starting to teeth.
I thought it was too soon, but apparently not.
before the appointment we noticed she was always having her hand in her mouth and constantly drooling. But last night is when the pain hit her, it took me ages to calm her down from it

aw poor little thing.  try wiping her gums with a cool wash cloth or something else cold.  also, do they still make those dummy-shaped teething things.  might be worth look for.

some babies are born w/teeth.

my sister's teethed early.  take a clean wash towel and pour cool, boiled water on it.  pop it in a clean tupperware container and freeze it.  courtney might like to chew on it to soothe her gums.

thankya. I'm gonna try those suggestions.
I was looking for those teething dummys but no luck.
Its horrible that shes too young for medicine, she just got over a cold a couple weeks ago, She had a stuffy nose and a cough.  and I couldn't use anything, not even vaper rub for her stuffy nose, apparently they only make vaper rub for 3months +. She I just put her in the bathroom and ran a hot bath and the steam helped her (from the suggestion of someone here ;D)

I second the freezing washcloth.  My daughter loved chewing on these more than the teething rings!

cheaper, too!  :D  can even take some with you if you're going to pop out for a bit - they take a while to thaw.  i find the dishrags from tesco work a treat as well - i have a supply of old ones just waiting for roisin's teething days.

Ashton was a baby who teethed early.  He had almost all his teeth by 9 months old.  The washcloth idea is great.

:o  I think that Ellen got her first tooth at 9 months!  She was toothless for quite some time.

Another thing that was recommended to us by a pediatrician (although this was for an older teething baby), was to give her a cold pickle.  Before she cut any teeth, she wasn't in danger of biting through the pickle and swallowing any and it stayed cold for quite a while.  I'm sure there was something about the sour flavor as well.

Philip had his first teeth, 2 of them, at 4.5 months. He didn't like chewing on anything cold though - he chewed on anything hard and plastic.

My son's first tooth came in two weeks before his first birthday.  He's working on his two-year molars, and I'll be soooooo happy once they're in and he's done!

Frozen bagels work great as well.  Granted, once they've got some teeth in you need to be careful that pieces don't break off as they start to thaw.  Plus, they're really easy for them to hold on to.

Celeste's first tooth came through on her 11 wk birthday...at my grandfather's funeral. What fun! I used to make popsicles fro bottled water and let her suck on them. The cold sootehed her gums and she got water out of the deal. win-win

My mother put vapor rub on our feet, when we were too young for the chest stuff. I did it with my little ones, as well. It helped a lot.
