I am really sorry for getting off topic.  It was terribly insensitive of the doc and I am pleased your husband will write a letter.  I can so relate to being new in a medical system and feeling let down.  And lots of tears...

Now, I hope you will have the kind of experience with your midwife that will more than make up for it.  I found it helpful to realize that they are considered the experts here in childbirth- and childbirth is meant to be natural ( that has NOTHING to do with pain care during delivery- cause I am a firm believer in epidurals, and they give you nitrous oxide here, did you know that? I was sucking that stuff down, it is fantastic!)

First pregnancy had the typical US style care and quite frankly, it is OTT.  I had an internal every office visit with that one, in the UK, only when delivery was in onset.  Much preferable.

I really hope things look up soon and congratulations on your pregnancy.  I wish you all the best.

Thanks grace and no need to apologize for getting off the topic!!!!  I think everyone agrees that moving on is the way to go!!  Now, I feel happy and ready to enjoy the next 9 months!

I got my blood test results back yesterday and they confirmed that I am defintely pregnant.  What is with me that I needed to know that after 5, yes 5 (shameful, I know....), home test kits were +?!?  He said that the "beat rate" (I've looked it up, but don't seem to be able to find it) was 597 and I guess 25 confirms pregnancy.  So, I'm pregnant with a due date of August 24th!!!

I never did a blood test but I constantly bought home pregnancy tests. I would buy a box of 2, twice a week to confirm I was pregnant and to confirm I was still pregnant.. I stopped buying them when I went in for my 12 week scan :P

Now THAT'S an interesting idea....  You can tell if there is a problem by taking a test say 7 weeks in?  I am going to go for a 7-week scan as I'm just that way...   It really has been SO much between moving to a foreign country, getting married and now being pregnant all in teh span of 3 months.  I may be going over the top with the scans I want, but I'm jsut feeling too overwhelmed to not have the peace of mind....

Ok, now I'm just rambling....  Thanks for the tip Englands Yank!  I'm sure there are other people out there who have taken many tests too!!!!

*raises hand* Yep! Count me in as one of the multi-test takers.  :)

Stop taking tests!  They don't get any darker and I've been told in fact they get lighter as the time goes on.  Trust me, I've heard it all. ;D

Expat I totally agree with you- other places I have lived they were less than 3 GBP, here they are wayyyyyy expensive. It's got to be the same test- what the heck

I've taken 3 tests, all +, but have had no blood confirmation so I envy you on that!  And I too, have gotten married, moved to a foreign country, and gotten pregnant in a span of 3 months!

We're certainly going through the same thing!!!  I hope all's well with you.  I have had some problems, but I think I'm ok.  They're most likely sending me for an early scan tomorrow, but we're keeping positive that all's ok.

I hope all's well with you.  I spilled juice on my computer so I've been off for a while - I'm in a cyber cafe now!  I hope to be back on soon!

Well, we had our 7-week scan today and there was a strong beating heart and a good sized little baby!!!  So, all is well for now.  I have a big old cyst on my ovary which is causing the pain and they said it is nothing to worry about - should go away.

So, yay!!!  Now, we can worry about the next one....  I think I'll be worrying now until I'm 95.....
