Do you guys not have VUE cinemas?  They are US owned by Warner?

http://www.myvue.com/

No need to travel to the USA for that real US movie experience or buttered popcorn.

Welll.... I believe I have access to a Vue cinema here and there... I just don't recollect reliving the American/Hollywood hot buttered popcorn experience... yet.
But my next choice of filmgoing will be at a Vue cinema, and I shall submit a full report!

Me too, Pebbs. What are you seeing? I've agreed to see Jarheads for the boyfriend. ::)
My friend is dragging me to Memoirs of a Geisha..I think that's it. Does that sound right?

I tell you it must just be the SW again... :-)  I hope you find it nearer you.  We have HUGE tubs and HUGE sodas and HUGE boxes of sweets, plus the pic a mix and coffee bar... it's like the best of both worlds in one place! Though you are more likely to get the fresh hot buttered experience (sounds like a bad porn movie) if you go on a busy night.

I always like to ask for it mixed with the sweet

I love the salted popcorn mixed with the sweet popcorn... such a good combination!  :)

Right -- well I'm preparing to ask my brother to ship me a big old bottle of Ibuprofens from the US -- you know, like the 500-pill (or more) container you get at Wal-Mart for cheeeap (compared to what you can get here).  I take them in prescription-strength dose (4 pills--800 mg) when I take them, so I go through them faster.  Anyway, was trying to come up with some other ideas of things he might put in a box for me, in case he didn't want to send just that.

Like some of you, I had a hard time thinking of things (foods, treats, etc) that I actually miss from the States.  I have plenty of Neosporin & other meds like that right now, so I was trying to think of some foods.  Here is what I've come up with so far, but will try to prioritise them somehow:

Really good BBQ sauce (like Gates of KC-MO, but he prolly can’t get this living in Atlanta—he might be able to order it online though)
Toll House choc chips
Triscuits – love the herby ones
Chopped green chilis in the tin
Rotel tomatoes
Progresso italian style breadcrumbs
Bisquick – I have a hard time finding it consistently here, and even then it’s a tiny box.
Maybe even that evil (but great for making queso) stuff – Velveeta
Oh – maybe Crisco shortening!

(No wonder I’ve lost 50 lbs since moving here!)

When you have people ships things to you – like food and/or meds, what do you tell them to put on the customs forms, etc?
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

I miss really good spaghetti bolognese. The ground meat never tastes right here. (Spaghetti is my favorite food ever.)

I miss American chop suey (and so does my fiance).

Real Cheerios. Not Team Cheerios disguised as Cheerios.

That's about it. I'm pretty content with the food here. I guess I miss Trader Joes & Whole Foods and all that.
Plans on hold 'cuz Brexit

Yes, don't ever describe yourself as spunky!

[smiley=laugh4.gif]  I just about spit my tea all over the monitor just now lol.  This reminds me of the Sex and the City episode with the "funky spunk"  lmao.

But then, there are certain British foods you could never sell in the US... like Spotted Dick.  My mum gets a kick out of going into British shops and asking for it in a very loud voice.  To make matters worse, the Heinz one that comes in a tin actually says on the label to open carefully to "avoid spurting" lol.
