i am f*cking furious with FIL!  they invited us round to theirs a week ago wednesday.  FIL was racking w/cough and cold.   >:(  but he says, 'oh, i'll stay away from the baby.'  gee, thanks!  so instead he plays w/aillidh.  then they came over to ours on thursday, BIL w/cold in tow.   >:(  i was so mad i moved roisin's basket into another room and fed her there.

guess who's got a cough and cold and 101 degree fever now?  aillidh.  poor wee lass!  she is refusing ALL liquids, food, medications.  all she'll let me do is put cold cloths on her head.  she keeps whimpering, 'night, night' over and over but is unable to sleep.  if i could just get some medised down her - but she vomits everything if we try to force it down and is not eating or drinking anything.

if roisin gets this she'll wind up in hospital.  or worse.

i'm SO angry i've spit!  wtf?  what's a nasty cold to an adult can be SERIOUS in a little kid and deadly in a baby.  no f*cking consideration at all whatsoever.

i've forbidden either girl to see them the rest of the winter.  honestly.  the ILs are ALWAYS ill all winter.

it's the last f*cking thing anyone needs.

i've phoned NHS direct and am waiting for a ringback.  she'll be off to the surgery tomorrow asap if she's still not drinking anything.

Aww, expat, how awful! I hope aillidh is feeling better soon and the baby doesn't come down with it!  I would agree - that wasn't very considerate or responsible behaviour. Fingers crossed!

Expat, that is terrible for your daughter and family.  Well wishes to all of you.

She JUST now went to sleep.  Finally got a full 5ml of MediSed into her.  She's still running a fever, so I'll be in all night checking her to make sure she's coming along okay.

Now I'm going to be all paranoid about Roisin.  Nice.  I've got PND again, too, and have just been prescriped anti-depressants and referred to the consultant psychiatrist.  Terrific.  Now I'm petrified a 3 week old baby will contract this.

People really p*ss me off sometimes.   >:(

F*ck.

I am so sorry to hear this happened, expat.  On top of recently having had a baby, lack of sleep, holidays, guests and the hormonal boomerangs, the last thing you need is sick children.

I assume your husband is back to work?  I really hope there is someone who could step in and help you out for a few days at least.  You've been through a lot-

Here's hoping your daughter sleeps it off and is better by morning and it doesn't come near the baby (or you!)

I just read this and I'm pissed off at these inconsiderate people. I mean they had children, what were they thinking? >:(  I have family like that, they do not think of things like that. Now it has got to the point I don't care who I piss off when it comes to the health and safety of my children. I won't even let my husbands father take Sarah anywhere without us, he used to have a huge drinking problem. And I have pissed the MIL off several times (though it's not hard) because of my daughter. She has asthma so I have to be careful of respiratory infections and night winter air gets her sick every time. This past Christmas she wanted to take her to an outdoor nativity scene and I said no, boy pissed her off good, but oh well. I'm sorry you have that sort in your family too.

You just want to punch someone!

I hope your little feels better tomorrow and will start taking a little liquid. And I pray your newest does not get it. And Expat, I hope you get to feeling better with your PND. I had it and iI know how it just makes stress 10 times worse.

I will say a prayer for your whole family. Get well soon little one!

aww I'm sorry expat, hope she feels better soon.

While leaving town today it started to rain so I hopped on a bus with the baby. The bus was packed, 4 prams,no empty seats, atleast 30 people standing. Then the bus breaks down. Several people are pushing, shoving trying to get off and I'm being squashed against my pram. The bus finally gets moving again and the driver lets yet more people on. When I had to get off about 20 people had to get off the bus so I can get myself & pram off. And several people were making smartass comments about how slow I was moving.................sooooooo sorry I'm more concerned about the safety of my baby then your time being wasted ::)

Oh boy, I just now started catching up on these threads.  Poor wee Aillidh!!!  You wonder sometimes what people are thinking!!!  >:( >:( >:(  (Or NOT thinking, as the case may be!!!)  I'd be spitting nails as well.... [smiley=bomb.gif]

When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

Aillidh's still ill.  Her fever has broken, but she's refusing all but an ounce or two of fluid and of course won't eat a thing.  I've been putting MediSed down her throat despite her protests.  She wanted to go back in her cot, so I changed all the sheets for her and got her a fresh GroBag and put some water w/juice in w/her.  She's still coughing miserably. She's turned down ice cream, OJ ice lollies, etc.  She is not as bad as yesterday, so GP says it's a virus.  Well, duh!  I could have told you that.

PLEASE keep the vibes coming that Roisin doesn't get it, b/c whatever it is, it is NASTY stuff for a two-year-old - a newborn would easily wind up in hospital.  Aillidh's fever spiked at 38.8.  I will never, ever be able to forgive them if Roisin winds up seriously ill b/c of this.  She's not even 1 month old.

I'm still so f*cking angry I can't even speak.  I should have marched both of them out the door the second FIL coughed no matter how rude it appeared.

Honestly, no f*cking consideration AT ALL.  Wtf did they think?  That it'd be cool if Aillidh got it?  She passes everything to her sister, naturally, which is why we were pleased Roisin was born during the winter break b/c Aillidh wouldn't be aroudn other kids for a while.  I'd have stuck WELL away from ANY child or baby if I were ill.  I always do.

Thank f*ck we all got the flu vaccine.  I'll be sure to make certain we're all innoculated every year.

I'm very glad to hear that her fever has broken and she has taken in some liquids. Sarah's doc said that they can go without food for several days, the fluids are the important part. I'm sure the medicine helps her feel better enough to rest sounds like. Hopefully the little one will let this pass by. I'll send good thoughts again for your two little ones and you to feel better soon!

awww hon . I hope lil Roisin won't get it. Keep some santizer (sp?) handy if you haven't already
This is exactly why I don't want many people holding Courtney this time of year. People think I'm being mean when I refuse to let some people hold her.
I'll be sending Aillidh some healing vibes *hugs*

Roisin is coughing.   :\\\'(

I'm am beyond angry.

I have forbidden them to go round there AGAIN.  EVER.  For the rest of the winter.  BIL always has some crap.  Always.  I don't care if it p*sses them off - they don't have to stay up all night w/an ill child and make Faustian bargains w/God at 2AM with an ill 3 week old puking up her meals and unable to breathe.

This whole 'they'll get it from other kids' is b*llocks in our case.  Aillidh has only been ill one other time - at 9 months.  All the play groups she goes to are full of children like her - the eldest, with no other kids they're exposed to.  She's not old enough for nursery, and when she is, Roisin will be an older baby.

Older babies can have stuff - Calpol, Nurofen, MediSed.  Newborns can have jack.

I know my kids will fall ill.  It's part of life.  Fair enough.  It's another thing to deliberately expose a child to a virus.  ANY virus.
