headache
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

When I moved out of my flat in Bristol and back to my parents house (15 miles away) last year, I decided to hire a small van to move my bed and other furniture (basically all the stuff that wouldn't fit in the car) - it only cost about £50 for 4 hours of hire (driven ourselves rather than by the van service guy though).

Yeah, first time I moved last year, I took 8 trips in the Honda Tardis, and it was easy peasy- then, second time I moved last year, I had acquired a huge (50 cubic foot) solid oak bookcase, so I hired a van, loaded it up with my stuff and moved, costing around £70 for 24 hours.  Was going to do this again (and will, again, if push comes to shove) however ,the bookcase is a beast and J and his brother really struggled last year from ground floor to ground floor and I'm moving to a first floor now, so we thought movers would be the better option.

We were going to go for a long walk and a pub meal, but the weather is crap.

Ain't that the truth.  I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me (and will continue to) and when you have dogs, it's more of an aggravation - muddy paws, etc.

So much rubbish is getting dumped along my street. Usually its McDonalds and KFC wrappers and empty bottles and cans. This morning it was piles of leaflets for some power-washing company. Looks like they hired someone to distribute them and they just checked them out the window as they drove down the street.  >:(

ARGH!  When the aforementioned cat barfed on the bed, I grabbed him mid-hurl and plunked him on the hardwood floor.  On the way down, he ...uhhh... hit my arm.  >:( I was wearing a new shirt I just brought back from the US last week.  I sprayed it with Vanish and left it overnight and chucked it in the washer this morning.  Well, it's out of the wash and there's a yellowish stain down the arm.  Thanks, Pinky!  It was the first time I wore the shirt, and it looked great.  The shirt is now soaking in all manner of detergent and those stains better come out, or I will be wearing a cat barf-stained shirt for some time to come.

Sorry about the shirt - what color is it?  You know what I stock up on when I go back to the US?  These Tide stain stick pen thingies, which are brilliant.  I know this might not be very helpful now, but perhaps for future reference.  I know you can get oxyclean detergent for the laundry here and that can work really well.

As for the cat....is he sick?

The shirt is blue, and luckily, 100% cotton.
I've got a stash of the Tide Pens, but this was a fairly large area, so I just went with Vanish spray the first time.  Now I've got it soaking in liquid detergent with oxyclean mixed in.  Hopefully that'll give it the extra oomph it needs.

The cat's not really sick, he's just a furry jerk.   :P  Don't get me wrong, I love him a ridiculous amount and cater to his (and our other cat's) every whim.  But we always make sure to have an apartment with all hardwood floors and have very few rugs just so this stuff isn't a huge issue.  But he manages to get to the one nice rug or the bed or a pile of laundry with shocking accuracy.

Over the years I've learned the hard way, though.  I now always have a spare, clean, waterproof mattress pad and set of sheets at the ready.   :D

So is it just yacking up fur balls?  God, the pleasures of having cats.  I can't have any here becasue DH is lethally allergic but in NYC I had two and I think only once I discovered this awfully smelling hairy mass of God knows what on the floor and figured it was something like that.  I guess I was lucky enough not to have to deal with this.

My cat Alex though, used to eat plastic bags if I left them in reach, and also avocados.

Yeah, why do they always have to do it right in the middle of a carpet and not on the linoleum? And on the bed! That's even worse.
