Just got denied for a "first time credit" type of credit card. Bit oxymoronic, really.

Job I am hoping to get wants someone with Sage or SAP experience. Most every job I apply for prefers someone with experience in these two things. I even got passed up for a promotion at my old job because I didn't have Sage experience. Where do I sign up to get the experience I need?! I can't even seem to find a course on it anywhere in my area. There is one through Home Learning College, but is that even a legit thing? Would anyone recognise a certificate from there?  :-\\\\

I would think that's okay, but maybe ask the temp agency you're working with? They should know if it's legit or not.

My IA is that I'm getting a cold sore.  :-X

Jewlz, do you learn software quickly?  I had the same problem with an industry specific piece of software when I was looking for a job.  I finally lied (not the best advice, I know!) and told them I was "familiar with it, but not an expert" eventhough I had never even seen it before!  I got the job and just taught myself to use it.

The woman in my office who uses Sage has been off sick for months, so someone else had to learn to use it and picked it up very quickly.  She isnt the most tech savvy person, either.

Do the job listings specifically say they need some kind of certificate or just "experience"?

I've been so tempted to do this lately because I know I would be capable of learning how to use whatever program necessary in a week or two, I just haven't had the opportunity!  It's such crap!

It doesn't help that my BF works in HR and says "Everyone lies on their CVs, it's the only way anyone gets a job!"  ::)

I'm not to the point of fibbing yet, but if the job search keeps going the way it's going I may get to it!

You could download the free trial online and teach yourself ;)  http://www.sage.co.uk/software_and_services/test_drive_our_software.aspx

It sounds like Quickbooks to me. I wondered why I wasn't finding job postings that looked for Quickbooks experience.

No, just experience with it. I suppose I should do that. I do learn software quickly and have no doubt whatsoever that I could pick it up in no time, its just so annoying that no one ever takes your word for it.  :-\\\\ I guess I don't really need any qualifications. I really hope I get this job, it's only for three months, but it would certainly be nice to be able to put on my CV that I have used Sage and SAP without having to lie.  :-\\\\ I looked into a local college that does some computerized accounts certifications and stuff, but I'd still have to pay international fees just now, so it really wouldn't be worth it.  ::)

Arrrgh. Rained so hard yesterday afternoon that the roof (awaiting replacement) leaked and it all soaked through to kitchen window and spewed over countertops, lower cabinets and floor. Looks like the window is toast. Have to take vacation day Friday -- maybe roofers will start if it doesn't rain again and I have booked a consultant from Pella windows.  :(

I know its money you dont have right now, but maybe something like this would be what you need: Sage Bookkeeping Training

Or there is a whole cataloge of training offered by Sage.

I'm in the "wah, it's raining" camp. Normally I love rain but, seriously, it's been raining more often than not for weeks now and I'm sick of needing a (better) raincoat and getting caught out without an umbrella, and I'm trying to order one but the UK Lands' End website hates me or something, probably because I kept a page open for a week without actually buying anything (I haven't had my wallet when I've been online) and it's feeling used or something, but...meh.

I've been extra prone to whinginess this week and my BF has been really grumpy, too. I think you're right about the SAD light. I think we need a little extra umph.

BostonDiner, that bites.  The rain yesterday was insane.  I was soaked from the top of my leg all down...and I had an umbrella!

I work for Harvey Building Products right now.  If you need windows installed, I can get you some contractors who install them in your area (unfortunately, we don't sell retail).  That way you can compare pricing, specs, etc.  PM me your zip and email address and I'll get that list over to you.  We do other things, too (basically anything that's on the outside of your home).  If not, I hope it all works out and the roofers can at least start on Friday for you.  Fingers crossed!

Seriously?! Ugh, that's frustrating! >:( Which one? And did they give you any reason? I was thinking of applying for one soon, but I'll probably be refused, too.  :-\\\\

Ahh! You should have seen the one in my bedroom this morning. (Okay, maybe not. No one should have to see a spider that large!) I woke up to scratching noises under the floor boards and up popped a MASSIVE spider. How does a country that barely has a summer produce such a huge spider? It was worryingly near the size of my hand, but it is dead now... or living in the vacuum.
