I'm with the group with the not-working boiler.

I first moved in about two weeks ago and the boiler worked for about two days. Since, we've been asking the landlord to take care of it. Apparently, he is one of those fussy guys where if you ask him to do something, he takes it as a personal offense. Also, he is the slack type. We call or text him about the problems in the house and he says he will show up around nine the next morning. The next day around three or four in the afternoon, he finally shows up. I understand that you might be busy, but at least have the decency to give one of us a call or a text saying that you're going to be late. He also believes that he can stroll into the house without informing any of us. I'm trying to figure out a way to tell him that we want him to be more communicative with us without him thinking it's a personal attack.  ::)

Plumbers checked out the boiler flue in Leeds house (carbon monoxide!!) and say there is something blocking it. If they can't get it clear it may mean replacing the whole system which will be mega-expensive and also a major pain for DH. The old boiler and radiators were put in back in the 1950's, so full of lead, asbestos, etc. etc.

Oh, and it is raining and windy and I got soaked walking to the bus this morning  >:(

Boiler man finally turned up (at 12:45), and ended up taking nearly an hour and a half to take the boiler apart, find out what was wrong (diverter valve leaking into the electrics, frying them!), getting the info to order the parts, and putting boiler back together. Now have to wait until Monday afternoon to get it all fixed, so still no hot water until then. Thank goodness for electric showers!

I've not been sleeping well due to the stress of the US Visa process and the potential of being apart from my husband for a long period of time & all that crap...as a result when I'm overtired I feel cold, like bone chill cold.

I turned on our electric heater and something blew in it, so here I sit in my zip fleece hoodie, wool socks & my thermal blanket trying to get warm with no success  :(

US immigration forms that don't allow you to fill in the information, then save it to your computer. Really annoying!

People who don't actually listen to what I say and twist my words in order to argue with me.

*Paraphrasing* Me: ...I believe there should be more emergency monetary protection for international students who might fall under financial strain. We should also distinguish between those 'bogus students' who exploit the student visa as entry into the country with no intentions of studying, and those who are legitimate students but are nearly forced into working more than twenty-hours per week because of unseen and sometimes, unpreventable financial stress.

Someone else in response to my comment: What do you mean students shouldn't be allowed to work?!

Just took the in laws out to dinner and had a miserable time. Everyone was so freaking moody, and I am just filled with tension now. We paid for everyone, and honestly I feel like it was a waste. We spent money we don't have on a miserable crappy night, where everyone did nothing but moan and complain...  >:(
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

I have two pairs of glasses - one with funky frames and one with more conservative frames. I'm off to a job interview and could only find the funky frames. Oops.  :-[
