Ugh! Dislike!
<shrug> it is what it is ;-) BUT we only have the older DSD this whole 3 weeks and the young one said she wasnt coming again and DH said then your not coming at all these 3 weeks, she said ok and skipped off.  Kinda broke our hearts BUT you have a choice and you choose not to come at all so you will miss things.  DH and I have said we will stick by it because an 8 year old will not determine what she will do and when...
She will miss putting up the tree and decorating, going to Durham for the lightening ceremony and obviously just miss seeing her dad for 5 weeks! (3 weeks he is off then working for 2 weeks).  As my parents used to say you made your bed now lay in it.

UGH.

Text from my landlord this morning:
Quote
Hi equestrianerd, dependent on what Flatmate says I will come round this Sunday or next. Just to reiterate before I come to inspect the flat that I need you to both be sure it is in the same state of cleanliness as it was when you both moved in. The state it is in currently is in breach of the lease and I do not wish things to get difficult therefore I need to see the place in the best of nick. Please discuss with Flatmate. Thanks, Landlord

1. Do I look like I'm 3 years old? Thanks for the nagging.

2. Again with the BS about it being clean. I still don't get this. (Not to mention, I had it clean last weekend and she declined to show up, so thanks!)

3. She misspelled Flatmate's name (and he's lived there for almost 2 years).

4. I hate her.

5. I've e-mailed about a dozen places that claim they're pet-friendly but either they're not or they're just not even bothering to get back to me. :( I want a new place to live, without an annoying-as-crap landlord.

OMG I hate your landlord too.

There is something called 'quiet enjoyment' (google it) and it sounds like your landlord may be in breech of this, especially since it doesn't sound like they are adhering to the bit about giving written notice of times they will be stopping by (legally, 'sunday or next' doesn't cut it) if landlord wants to play nasty. Try contacting Shelter to see if they can give any advice?

mine: the weather is crap and I'm finally feeling up to going out but don't want to take the baby out in this.

Apologies in advance for the oncoming rant.

I went to work yesterday, even though I was really ill, and for many reasons it just turned out to be a terrible day. So I called in sick today. But the lessons I teach cover other teachers' PPA (non-contact/planning) time, and they don't call in anyone to cover their time for me, since it's hard to find a music supply. So I realize that everyone is going to be annoyed to lose out on their time today. And it means when I get back, they will ask me if I have any free time to make up their lessons - and will take all of MY PPA time for next week. Why is it okay for me to miss mine, but not anyone else, ever??

I hate calling in sick.

Plus I have my 2nd day of non-music teaching tomorrow, and only have 2 lessons ready. Was going to meet with the normal class teacher today to work out what else I should have time to do tomorrow.

Hey princesslemons, I used to do a lot of curriculum planning. PM me if you want someone to bounce ideas off of.

My IA: I am loaning a horse at the riding school where I take lessons. I'm still at that "I feel very awkward here" phase where I am convinced everyone is annoyed that I'm there. I'm driving myself crazy!

Thanks for the support, guys. My lease includes the following two clauses:
Quote
To use the Premises in a reasonable manner and to keep the furniture effects or other items forming part of the contents specified in the inventory, together with the interior of the Premises, clean and in the same order and preservation as at the commencement of the Tenancy (fair wear and tear and damage by accidental fire and the Insured Risks only excepted) and so far as possible forthwith to replace with articles of the same sort and equal value such as may be lost broken or destroyed or to compensate the Landlord in damages for any omission to replace as aforesaid and to repair and make good such articles as may be damaged by the Tenant, his family, visitors or his contractors(except as aforesaid).

Quote
To permit any Superior Landlord, his Agent, the Landlord or his Agent with or without workmen and others between the hours of 8am and 6pm from Monday to Saturday subject to twenty four hours prior written notice being given (save in the case of an emergency), to enter into and upon the Premises from time to time to examine the condition of the same or to inspect maintain repair alter improve or rebuild the Premises or any adjoining or neighbouring property or to maintain repair or replace the Fixtures and Fittings or for the purpose of complying with any obligations imposed on the Landlord by law including the annual Gas Safety check.

So I don't think I can prevent her from coming by to check whether the place is clean. (I would think I could argue that the cleanliness clause is nuts, though, and violates the quiet agreement clause, which is in there.)

I just really want to move. :( I wish finding a flat with pets were easier.

Thanks, EN.

Jennie - I really appreciate that! Got a text from the class teacher, and she's going to call me after school today to talk about it. It may be a somewhat stressful night of planning, so I may take you up on your offer! Since I'm only trained in music, I don't really know what I'm doing when teaching things like literacy and RE... I don't know where to begin planning for those!

Aw, just remember horsepeople are awesome! Unless you're being super diva-ish or mistreating your horse (which I'm sure you're not!), I'm sure everyone's happy to have another cool horseperson around the barn. :)

Definitely, literacy is one of my "things", so I have tons of stuff for that. RE not so much, but I like creating curriculum! (and one of my friends is an RE teacher, so I'm sure we could ask her).

Aww, thanks! It's more that I don't know all of those "unspoken" rules, so I'm just on high alert trying to make sure I don't do something silly. I'm sure they're nice.  Barns are soooo drama-intense anyway, that it takes me awhile to relax.  He's an adorable horse, so that's a bonus. But yes, at least I know it mostly in my own head!

Yeah, the drama is one thing I hate about most barns. I want to look into doing a 1/2 lease or something at some point - trick is finding time (and money)!
