Been a *bleep*ing fantastic month all around to be honest.

Incredibly painful breast Cyst,  chest infection, Bells Palsy, surgery, redundancy, paid a huge amount for a wedding that I now can't afford and may have to move the date because of William/Kate,  all in about 4 weeks.

Wow, that's a really crap month.  :( :( :(  ((((hugs))))

Here's good thoughts to you!
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

I have my own IA regarding those clueless in immigration.  I just got my British citizenship after being here 6 years on work permit and coicidentally I am getting married in 2 months.

I was mentioning my British citizenship while talking to know-it-all acquaintance, whose response was "oh, it is so nice the British government allows you to get your passport through your marriage beforehand."  I though I misheard her so I asked her to repeat herself.  She obviously thought she had said something wrong because on repeat, she added "oh, is it a requirement to have your UK passport before you are married, they don't want non Brits marrying Brits?"

So while my jaw was on the floor, I just stated that it didn't work that way at all, that I got my citizenship unrelated to marriage and to get it under any track in any case, took years and lots of money - it isn't just handed to you.

To which she argued with me that I clearly didn't know what I was talking about and the British government allows UK passports for all spouses and it has nothing to do with citizenship - she has read this in the papers darnit!  My boyfriend even had to step in and say "oh, I thought it was easy too but Sara is right, blah, blah...."  Then I she didn't speak to me the rest of the night presumably because I told her she was wrong about something and she definitely doesn't like that.   ::)

Hey! I did that, too. :)

I always just got the good-natured jibe "oh, so you're just marrying him for citizenship, then" to which I was "No, actually I already earned my citizenship last year". But never, never did I come across someone so willfully and stubbornly ignorant as the woman you described. My god.

Hee. Someone made that joke (if you can call it that) to me, and I replied "No, for the mindblowing sex." It was absolutely inappropriate (it was to an older woman at a friend's party, she was SHOCKED  ;D), but  it felt soooooo good. Never mind that I don't actually have citizenship yet (just got ILR), but I didn't even want to ATTEMPT to explain it at that point.

CB: I'm sorry it's been such a tough month!

More car trouble. I am so over it.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

DS got back to Leeds and rang the Yorks. Bank about his debit card having expired and not receiving a new one. The assistant took his details and then said she had to ask a security question -- which was what was the amount of your last deposit! He said it was over a year ago -- haven't a clue. Asked if she could ask something else (like your mother's maiden name) and she said the computer produces just one question and if you blow that you have to start all over again. So he agreed to try to find a bank statement and ring back.
Great search all over the house. Finally found an envelope from the bank -- which contained the missing bank card -- in DH's carry-on bag. Evidently he'd put it in there to deliver and then forgotten it  ??? And I thought I was disorganized!!

I have a cold and cough that will not quit. Three weeks into the illness and just as I think I'm on the mend, I spend a day outside in the damp, cold air and I'm back to square one. Annoying.

Today was a total wtf day.  Firstly, I realised I was agreeing with a historian I hate which is a minor thing, but still annoying.

My second one was finding out my form of bc is not available because of supplier issues.  Hopefully it will be in next week, but it's extremely annoying.

There's a new Wii game out, but it's only being released in the US in an NTSC version that won't work on my UK/PAL Wii (or if there is a PAL version, I can't find it).  Annoying.

*HUGS* I know it's all gloom and doom now, but something good will come out of it eventually. Fingers crossed for you!

Arg. Didn't make it to lecture this morning because the bus I flagged to stop just drove past me. Managed to make it to seminar but was wearing my sweatpants because my other clothes are still drying. Found out that since the other girls are leaving the house so soon that me and my friend are expected to move out as well just days after end of term instead of a couple of weeks. No say on how much I'm getting back from the landlord. My other friend is being flaky about the whole thing and is bailing out on us AGAIN! It's 9:30 now and I need to go to the shop to go buy toilet paper even though I've been out all day while the other girls were home since we finished uni.

I would have been just fine with spending my days at the British library, writing essays, but now I must find a flat, do viewings, and move  :-\\\\
