Today, more than most days, the Atlantic Ocean is a very inconvenient annoyance. :(

Organizing all my new books on this Kindle is going to take forever.
That sucks! Although, new books are ALWAYS good!

DH has been suffering with an aching shoulder and arm for 2-3 months, keeps him awake at night, thinks seeing a doctor is a waste of time.  But I made an appt for him anyway.

Doctor:  Try taking some ibuprofen.
DH:  I take 6 a day.
Doctor:  Take 8.
DH:  I put a heat pack on it but it doesn't help much.
Doctor:  That's a good idea, use a heat pack.  And you can buy gel to rub into the area.
DH:  Yes, I already use that.
Doctor:  Okay, it should feel better in 2 or 3 weeks.  Bye.

So basically the doctor told him to do all the things he's already doing that aren't helping.  A waste of time.  GRRR!!!   >:(  >:(  >:(

I'm soooooo cold!  Need to be getting ready for Thanksgiving, but just want to stay wrapped up under a blanket.

I've got a few today.

Baby's got terrible wind and gas and keeps fussing in his sleep. He's still too little for gripe water and I hate seeing him in pain.

My rash is getting worse, even though I'm on anti-histamines and steroid cream. Hope doc is right and it is an allergy from my pain killers and it goes away now that I've stopped them.

Found out that one of the managers I work with has taken voluntary redundancy. he has been very supportive and understands and allows me to do what I am capable of, pushed me to take on more responsibility, and trusted me not to micro-manage (basically the opposite of the other manager I work for.) I hope they will do something for him, but part of me thinks they won't. I need to find out when his last day is so I can get back into the office before he goes.

I know.  I met a friend for coffee today, and I stayed under my blanket until the last possible second before going out.  And this 5 minutes of intense snow and then clear skies thing is for the birds.

Oh man - I so did not want to leave my blanket!

I've another IA today...had a brain freeze (probably cause I left my blanket), wandered around all over Sainsburys twice, looking for evaporated milk.  Asked one of the staff where the UHT milk was (because I couldn't remember if evaporated milk was called the same thing here), who showed me to the UHT milk & of course evaporated milk wasn't there.  In the US, I seem to remember it being with the home baking things - was that it in the US?  So I wandered around some more, until I remembered that evaporated milk here is in the tinned dessert aisle, because you know that evaporated milk is a dessert, of course!  ;)

Happy Thanksgiving to me! I woke up this morning very happy and excited for my favorite holiday. But, as I was about to leave for work, I opened the airing cupboard for a carrier bag, and found everything completely soaked and the floor a giant puddle. :( Hot water tank was leaking. Was a bit late, as I had to call landlord and sort it out. Hubby stayed home for the plumber because I couldn't miss work.
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

Burnt my finger hours ago, and it is still in a lot of pain.  I've taken nurofen and put an antiseptic cream on that is supposed to numb pain and it still hurts like crazy!!! Grrrrr.....

My husband's alarm goes off 45min before mine so he can wake up and get a shower and be out of the bathroom before my alarm goes off and I get in the shower. He takes so long to wake up, though, that he's been still in the shower when I need to get in over the past few days and the cold weather isn't helping so I was all "can you PLEASE just get up so I'm not late for work again?" this morning to which he did get moving at that point...

...only for the water to run out so I had to wait 20min before we had enough in the tanks before I could get my shower. And because we'd gone low-tide tilty by that point, I had to go outside in my pyjamas (and a big coat) to turn off the water after 30min so we didn't crack the tanks and of course while I was out there, looking surly and grumpy, like 5 different neighbours came by and said hello. Very chirpily.

And I came back inside to find the cat sat on the table. grrrr.

I hope today improves.

Apparently nobody here knows what to do with someone who is married and doesn't share a last name with their spouse.

I never had any issues with the fact that I kept my maiden name in the States, but it has raised eyebrows and led to some bizarre assumptions on several occasions here (banks, leasing agency, landlord), most recently with my local surgery and NHS. They've called at least 3 times to confirm that, yes, I am married, and yes, I don't share my husband's (and son's) last name, and no, I don't mind that you can't put me down as a Mrs. in the system because our names don't match (I've never even used the title of Mrs. anyway)

It seems like a strange fixation for a place that seems far more tolerant and welcoming towards unmarried partners than in certain parts of the U.S.  *shrug*
