Boohbah
« on: December 30, 2005, 03:32:57 PM »
WTF??  I thought Teletubbies were pretty strange (although they've grown on me a bit), but Boohbah just scares the poop outta me!  They're like freaky dancing gumdrops.

Can anyone explain it to me?  Although, honestly, I'm not sure if I want to know....

I HATE them. . . Alicia once posted a picture of someone's hideous dress that looks as if it were made from Boohbah hides. . . . I'd buy one if they'd show proof of dead boohbahs. . .

Ah- here we are:

Someone gave my co-worker a big pink Boobah as a joke and it sings, dances and FARTS!  LMAO

Don't you think they are kind of fallic looking? Certainly not kid friendly that's for sure, yuk.

They're LSD for toddlers.
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

Yep, they look a bit well, you know... Xan never liked them. Thank goodness. He watched them once, and started to cry.

I liked them when my daughter was smaller. The music was different, kinda funky. Apparently the same people that make the Teletubbies make Boobah and the intent was to put all the ingredients that suit the development of little ones into the show, hence the bright colors and the sounds. It sure mesmerized my little one, she really liked it.

Funny thing about the music, it would be a good exercise tape lol

I never let the kids I work with watch Boohbah or Telletubies. They scare me and I can't stand them. I just tell them I'm allergic, and they're fine with switching to something else.

They're LSD for toddlers.

If by toddlers you mean stoned college students, then I can totally see it.  ;D

The weird thing is that I really don't mind the Teletubbies.  Yeah, they're a bit strange, but they don't creep me out like Boohbah.  Go figure.

Stuff like tellitublies, oobie, and boohbah isn't the best for toddlers/babies anyways. (or at least so i've heard from several wiser people) They dont use normal speach patterns, and kids can pick up on it.

Well, my daughter didn't have any issues with her speech development and she now speaks two languages, and has no difficulty with either. Did the Teletubbies and Boobah help or hinder, who knows, all I know is she enjoyed them and I liked her enjoyment of them.

Hmmm...I guess it just depends on the child and how much the watch. I've worked with kids before who watched the tellitubies and talked like them...

I keep reading that kids can't/don't learn language skills from the TV - maybe they will copy certain things but they will learn their basic language skills from their parents and those around them.
