I'll let him know about the IRA option..he worked in the states for 13 years so his 401K is a nice little chunk of change.  However, I have my own IRA.  When I called the bank to change my address (to England) they told me that I could not have a foregin address. 
Usually we are very detailed oriented people.  I'm not sure what has happened to us in regards to Green Cards and finances!!

I bank with a military/Dod credit union so maybe that's why they are more open.  Best of luck!
