Impacts of denial of entry, refused visa?
« on: January 10, 2006, 03:41:52 PM »
Ok, i have decided to wait a while before I apply for my visitors visa until I get everything here in order to prove i have substantial ties to the us and plan to return. my question is this....what impact, if any, would getting refused a visa [if that actually happens] would that have on subsequent visa applications in the future? i know getting denied entry already has created a bad cloud over me but now im worried about applying and getting rejected.

ah i hate feeling like a criminal because i have a boyfriend who lives in another country!! i know that IO is really cracking down on people entering to settle, but its just frustrating for those of us who have intentions of returning genuinely.

You'll just need to be prepared for any applications to take extra time because the consulate will have to contact the airport where you were denied entry for information.  If you're refused a visa, that doesn't neccessarily mean you'll be refused one in the future, but it does mean that you'll have to REALLY have your ducks in a row the next time you apply for something.

I was initially refused my FLR due to a technicality in changing status.  My subsequent application took a bit longer and on my last entry at Heathrow (not the first time entering on my FLR), I was extensively questioned by the IO.  He checked EVERY stamp in my passport and asked me why I was denied my FLR.  I explained what happened and after several tense minutes, he let me through.  Any refusal will appear when they scan your passport.  You may get asked about it, you may not.  The first time I entered on my FLR, I got asked no questions.  This last time.. was an inquisition.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
