i'm a paranoid dumbass...
« on: January 11, 2006, 04:22:09 PM »
here's the deal:

the wedding's in early may. DF will fly over at the end up april, and our hope is to go to the consulate in chicago & get the visa the monday following the wedding & leave for the UK together later that week.

my dilemma is the timeline:

when should i send in the fast-track application?

and, when i do send it in, will i need to include brian's passport as well as mine?

he'll be here for a short visit in march, and he can send his to me after that if i need to send it in as part of the application.

what concerns me is whether we'll have it sent back in time for him to get over here for the wedding at the end of april.

somebody give me a stiff drink & hold my hand...

If you're going in person to the consulate, you can submit your application whenever.  You tell them on the application you're bringing your supporting documents with you to your appointment.  No need to mail in anything.  Just bring it and you get your passport and visa back the same day.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Your application will be submitted electronically if you are going in person. So, you don't submit any documents at that time. You bring them along with your printed application to your appointment.

I would double check with your local authorities on how quickly your marriage certificate is issued.  I've heard that some areas are slower than others, and you will definitely need it for the visa.

we have done this; i asked the pastor who's marrying us how long it typically takes, and he's certain we can get it immediately.
