introducing... ME!  :)
« on: November 14, 2003, 12:59:13 PM »
hi everyone...!
i'm Lost_Angel.   my real name is Angela, but everyone calls me Angel for short.

i was married in July in Vegas, and my husband is British.  i moved to the east midlands from the midwest USA.  i think it is lovely here, but am completely bored out of my skull.

i am not working at the mo', so i spend a lot of my time online, chatting with friends back home.  i am going back to the states for most of December, and will be applying for my visa when i get there.

i am an artist.  i love to draw and design things, and also work with glass.  (i make kaleidoscopes.)  i am also a high-maintenence girlie-girl, and a one of maybe 3 girls in Derbyshire that wear lipstick and nailpolish...  (varnish is for woodwork...)

i think most British food is scary and tastes like cardboard, except fish n chips, (which i can't get enough of...)  i love to cook, which is a good thing, or i think i'd starve to death in England.

my husband is the sweetest, most patient man in the universe, and he does such a good job putting up with my sh*t.  (that's why i married him... [smiley=smitten.gif])

i am highly opinionated, and am not afraid to speak my mind, so watch out!  hahaha  don't be scared... i try not to be rude. [smiley=lipsrsealed2.gif]

i also keep telling brits things like, i "like their pants", and i think that some are frightened of me because of this...  British people are funny... [smiley=laugh4.gif]

okay, thats it for the intro.   i will post more in other places...

great site... you stole my idea!!!   hahaha
okay...  see you around!  byeeee.....!

Angel

Hi there Angel and welcome to our little corner of the cyber world.  I hope you find some useful information here and wish you luck in the Visa process.

I promise not to make you try any pudding of any sort. ;D

Hiya Angel, welcome to UKYankee.  Sounds like you plan on livening things up in here!    Will your husband be writing to us as well?  Have you found an outlet for your kaleidoscopes in Derbyshire?

i doubt that my husband will join, as he is an IT consultant full time (computer stuff), and barely even has time to post on MY message board... lol
he did mention that he thinks this site is a great idea.  i was working on doing something similar to this one, but i found this site and decided to join UK-Yankee instead.

it was funny, because i was trying to think of a name for my new site; i typed in "UK Yankee" into google to see if there was anything similar, and there was THIS SITE!!!  hahaha... i was too late! glad you guys are here though!

maybe i will branch off and do something on my own later, as i LOVE designing message boards, and am learning a lot about website design, etc..  i was thinking about a recipe site because i love food so much...  who knows?

right now, i have a site similar to this (message board) that is designed for my friends and i to keep in touch across the miles, and it's pretty fun...  i think that i will stick to that for a while...  i won't spam here, though. ;)

(i am not working currently, so i have a lot of free time...)

my scopes...?
well, i still have all of my supplies/equipment back in the US, so i haven't been working on them since summer.  hopefully. i will have all of that here by spring.  i can't WAIT!
also, our home is small... i really need an artist's studio to work on them.  probably won't have that till we move to a bigger city... :(

so, meanwhile, that is on hold...

hi Rhia...
i just read your profile and see that you are into "witchie" things!   coooool.  i used to own a metaphysical bookstore in Green Bay, WI, called Star Gazer, so i am into all that sort of thing.  don't really practice the craft, but i do feel "magickal" sometimes... ;)  my grandmother was a pagan, and i have a pretty funky mom as well... lol

nice to meet you!

So where in the midwest are you from then? I'm a born and raised Indiana girl, but have also lived in Ohio and Michigan (...and Alabama, but thats not exactly the midwest!). I know what you mean about workspace as well, I used to do loads of craaft things, like painting and seweing things and being generally craft-licious, but left it all behind in the States because making enough room in our house to DO those things means practically rearranging the bloody furniture. ;) ANYWAY... welcome to the site. :)

Ahhhh.... WISCONSIN. I suppose I could have read your profile before asking where you were from. ;) My husband and I actually spent half of our honeymoon in Wisconsin this last July... we only had 3 days left (the beginning was spent in Chicago) and just ended up taking a road trip. :)

:o  wow, Marlespo...!  i just read YOUR profile!
we have a pretty similar story...  my husband and i also met on April 1st, were married July 3rd in Vegas, (so we could enjoy the 4th celebration as a couple), i moved here July 2003, am going home for the holidays to get my visa...

holy crap!  i hope i don't end up prego!!!     heehee   ;D  not yet, anyway...  ;)

i am originally from Green Bay, WI, but have lived in Madison for about 6-7 years before i moved to Derbyshire.  Madison is the best town, ever.   i really miss being surrounded by the cultures, the restaurants  (mmm...the foooooood...), the locals, the shops, the "anything goes" fashion, etc.    i really felt that i "fit in" there... :'(   *sigh*
