It's because I'm such a nefarious person!  ;) Seriously, it's required to get credentialed as a SW in the UK if you're immigrating...for locals they require police checks.

I should have been clearer. Agent asked for all of this info to get me cleared before I come over so once I find a place, I can lease on the spot. She didn't ask for the FBI check, I offered....trying to come up with as much documentation as possible to show I would be an acceptable tenant.
