Girlie weekend away?
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:32:41 PM »
My best friend is coming over for 6 days. (yay!)  she mentioned going away for a few nights......

any ideas on where we should go?  don't want to spend too much money.  i've found some cheap deals to paris but i go there for work a lot.  barcelona is a maybe.

Any other ideas for somewhere for a girlie few nights?  might even be in england....if we could get a deal at a spa or something.....

Some friends and I are doing a girlie weekend to a spa for two nights. My friend is doing the booking, so I don't even remember the name of the place right now -- but I know it's in Hampshire and is supposed to be FABULOUS!! I'll pass on the details as soon as I speak to her!

hmmm.......dh would kill me as we're going to ireland in a few months and he's already sensitive i'm off to the alps without him  :-\\\\

a spa is more our speed i *think* and she studied in italy.  so that's out.

maybe spain or portugal?  the thing is she will be paying US dollars......and i'm not sure we should spend too much. (even though, god love her, she is a trust fund baby).

edinburgh might be a choice.......it would be nice to take the train somewhere.

You could just stay in London and go to the Sanctuary?

what about York great city, great history, and if your on on a girlie theme there is Leeds nearby for all the shopping you want. and if your brave enough stay at the black swan, on eof the haunted pubs
its a far better thing i do than i have ever done

i LOVE york.  i've been there but she hasn't.  would be nice to see a bit of the countryside.

britwife, that is one of my thoughts, just doing a sanctuary day.  i've emailed here to see what she wants.  don't want to make her spend money that she doesn't need to.......

I googled "girls' weekends" and found this for you in Edinburgh. I especially like the sound of a dedicated butler service!!

ditto on sanctuary It was gorgeous for my hen night
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

OK, I spoke to my friend about the spa in Hampshire. Turns out I had it all wrong. It's in Surrey. Also, she hasn't booked it yet because now there's one in Tetbury that she thinks might be even nicer. So here are two good options for you, Aimiloo:

I think I prefer Calcot Manor! I can't wait!  ;D

If you decide to go to Mainland Europe...My favorite city is Florence.  Easyjet or Ryan have flights to Pisa for cheap.  So you can stop by see the leaning tower and then head to Florence on a 1 hour train ride.  It has great food, for cheap, great bars, and fantastic shopping, especially designer labels (The Prada, Fendi and Gucci outlets are a quick bus ride away!)
