Is this true?
« on: January 23, 2006, 09:34:22 AM »
I asked my fiance today....he mentioned they don't have Krat Mac and Cheese in the UK.

Also, while on topic, does anyone know where(if possible) You can get top ramen, peanutbutter M&Ms (not peanut, but peanutbutter) Pocky (it's a Japanese candy) Jiffy cornbread mix, RockStar (an energy drink...it says London on the can, but when I went, I didn't see it anywhere) or Reese's minitures...?

No, no Kraft mac n cheese here. Havent ever seen Top Ramen but they have something similar but I dont care for it. We have peanut m&m's but not the peanut butter ones.  You can get Reese's peanut butter cups at ASDA but havent seen the mini ones. No Jiffy either. I bring mine back from the USA. Never heard of Rockstar. lol I guess i have been away too long.
There are shops online where you may be able to get the things you desire but be prepared to PAY! Not worth it to me.

It all depends on where you live in the UK and how much you are willing to pay for some things.

But no you can't just go to the supermarket and buy some things.

Mac &Cheese -my best suggestion is to just pack the cheese packets and buy the macaroni here.

You can buy tons of Ramen in the Supermarket and Asian stores so no problems there.

I have not seen peanut butter M&M's, but Reese's products keep popping up here and there.

Pocky -you can buy in most Asian stores.

Jiffy -search this site for copy cot recipes.  Cornmeal is available in health stores, international stores and some supermarkets.

No idea about the Rockstar.

Don't worry you will find lots of other things here that are nice to eat.  Also for a price most US products can be found!

You can get a Ramen equivalent and might be able to find Reese's, depending on where you'll be living, but they won't be the miniatures.  I've never seen any of the other things you've listed here.

Wow...this saddens me greatly. Well, hey broaden my horizons, right? I may not be able to get somethings...butthere are several things there I did like. Also, with the internet, I can have things ordered....not to mention I can hook up some good supplier friends from back in the states....pay them to ship us cases of mac and cheese and Rockstars....so, it won't be too bad. Guess I have to get back in the habit of cooking. (cooking is so much better when you have people to cook for anyway....living with roommates, I'm not much up for it, so I usually eat out of a box or take out)

I'm  Pocky fan too! It's not that easy to find but some Asian grocers do have it.  There is a shop here in Canterbury Thais R Us that has it for 50p a box.

It's little biscuit sticks, one end is coated in chocolate. There are other flavours too - banana, strawberry etc but I have only had the chocolate ones, they are very moreish!

ps yes I know Thais R Us, hilarious! It's a great shop, they have so much stuff in there, I would be lost without it, there is nowhere else around here to buy Asian groceries.

I want to try these Pocky things now! I googled them and found this site that sells them:
http://tokyotoys.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=pocky

The prices seem reasonable to me.

My favorite is Strawberry. What I think is wonderful, in Japan, Pocky is considerd a "girl's treat" so they have special dark chocolate Pocky that comes in a green box gor guys and it's called "Men's Pocky" I think that is just outright amusing. I kid not!
